How a Centrifugal Supercharger works

You're exactly right Micah....I'm using the tried and true Haltech F10X stand alone fuel controller. It's been proven VERY reliable ad capable of very nice power number on turbo kits. Juan has used his (with race gas and 20psi) to a 12.5s quartermile. I'd say his tuning skills are quite good.

Did I mention that I'm flying him up to my place for the weekend to tune my supercharger kits??
I thought he uses the E6X???? How can he get that power without timing control???

It's VERY easy to get power without timing control. If you can actually control the fuel with ACCURACY you can prevent detonation. Also, if you're not dumping high intake temps into your combustion chamber you're going to have less risk of detonation.

WITH the timing control of the E6X the possibilities are almost endless.

The blower I'm using flows almost 1000cfm at 12psi. Nowhere did I say I was going to run 1000cfm. I just said it was possible with this blower. I was pointing out how much air this blower will move at LOW RPM...

.
Yes it will flow that much cfm at a given RPM. You need to run a bigger OD pully to slow the SC down or it will over boost our engine. Since you are going to slow it down it will not reach it tip in boost point until you are running a higher engine rpm.

It is scary to me that anyone would buy something from vendor that knows so little about how his product works.

Do NOT get into the "intake temp" debate about a product you know NOTHING about. The powerdyne is the coolest running blower available even at high boost levels. Don't try to tell people that compressing air will create turbo-like intake temps this is NOT true and you damn well know it.

.
You may be right here. They are coolest running SC on the market. Why is this a big deal for them to claim this? Because S/C run very hot outlet temps.

Flooding the engine with fuel is not a great way to stop detonation. To much timing is just that. You will need to retard the spark.

Usually when claims like this are made they are backed up with fsome kind of factual evidence instead of, "Its hotter cause I said so!"

Rism, don't expect ANY factual evidence from MPNick. He knows nothing about my kit, powerdyne's blower, Juan's haltech, etc....Next he'll be telling people DaveB's brackets aren't made out of "supercharger complaint material".

MPNick. You are a stain in the underwear of humanity. You honestly think that I'm using a stock pulley designed for another vehicle? Do you know that DaveB and sat up in his machine shop and calculated exact dimensions for the pulley based on ACTUAL MAZDA PROTEGE CRANK PULLEY SIZES.... Obviously you don't know this or you would've kept your ignoarnt mouth shut.

And to repeat, the centrifugal makes so little heat that it makes it a non-issue, so stop beating the dead horse.

would you PLEASE explain this to MPNick....he's still under the impression that he knows everything.

almost as low but not as a low as.....make sure not to say anything good about my blower choice!! you may look like Kerry for flip-flopping! hahahah

did I ever say anything bad about a centerfugals temps? no... but I still think a whipple is #1 overall s/c.... I have so for years... but I understand the logistics of it in a protege aren't ideal

All of the buzz surrounding this SC project is great. Whether youre a believer or a skeptic its defiantly an interesting project. But man, whats with all the hating on Matty. People on this board seem to be overly passionate about the TC versus SC debate. Whether everything works just the way Matty says it will, or the whole damn thing just explodes, take it easy folks. This is just a discussion board, no need to come out of your corner swinging. In the end, the car its-self will blatantly answer all of our questions one way or the other, so relax man.

I hope it works, its always good to have more options in the power addition arena, but Ill hold my comments until the prototype is fully complete and tuned.

good deal. So we can we see eye to eye on my choice of blower?? Can you think of a blower that would be more ideal for this set-up?? Let's start focusing on what we agree on instead of disagree on.

yeah, cut a big hole in the firewall, install a whipple... the supercharger fits, and your passenger gets more fresh air. (which they'll need with the lack of A/C) ;)

everybody wins

Yeah it's not like there's a CHOICE when it comes to supercharging the Protege. Well, you could run a hot-side roots but then it will cost as much as a turbo, make less power, and people will be bitching that their axles snapped because they have too much torque down low and how the car starts to make less power at around 150 mph.

lower temps and not having to tap oil supply lines or adding of additonal cooling methods, lack of additonal maintaince, etc...

p.s. Actually I can get the Eaton MP62's for about 30% cheaper than the powerdynes. They are cheaper, just not feasible....

p.p.s. I've got an extra M62 sitting in my workshop, disassembled, cleaned, inspected and reassembled with new seals for sale....NOT perfect for a custom protege project....trust me.

Look at that! The bestest turbo vendor of the day is not being a b****, but a washed up hack who clearly knows damn near nothing about this project IS being a b****. Thank you Beau (spelling?) Now lets all sit down and have a nice turkey dinner. With a side of lasagna....
