Honeymoon over?

The curse of owning a black car. My wife used to have a black Stratus coupe, and that thing was murder hot inside anytime the outside temp was over 85 degrees.

Thats a good point. Never thought about the color affecting it. My truck is black inside and out and the A/C is much better..but that might be due to the smaller cab.

Yep, the hatch area on our2 doesn't help the cooling any, plus take into account the lack of insulating material to keep the weight down and it's a recipe for hot summers and cold winters. I actually had a soda turn to slush in the forward most drink holder on a 3 hour drive with the heat on in 10 degree weather this past winter.

Power loss from the a/c doesn't seem excessive to me ('12). As far as downshiffting to pass, etc.....if you don't have forced induction or a motor swap, passing is difficult (or many times impossible) even downshifting to the lowest possible gear with the a/c off. I've just given up on passing all but the slowest people since I've gotten the 2.

these things do so much so well, that I agree, I'll give up passing up hills to have a dead sexy corner monster. But I do have an outlet for all the pent up passing rage; the wife's speed3.

You can pass in a 2, it just requires a lot of thinking ahead and flooring it way before the straight part of the road..haha

you might enjoy this then

^^^ Haha, that's pretty good!

It's interesting to see the mixed feelings about the A/C. No one seems to contest the loss of power (makes sense) but it looks like we're pretty well split down the middle on how it affects the general driveability of the car. A couple people mentioned heading to the dealership to see if anything was wrong so I'm waiting for their feedback. Maybe some of us have cars that we shipped with low refrigerant or something. We hit 105+ deg F a couple weeks ago and the 2's A/C definitely wasn't cutting it. Oddly enough my wife's Jetta had no problem...

Thanks guys! It's amazing what a Mazda man can do in an evening with paint.

the AC should definitely work, It's a brand new unit for crying out loud. It's been 85-95 with 'wet sock in mouth' humidity here and my 2 blows ICE cold all day. gets a little warmer at a standstill but I had to zap it with my electric air temp gauge the even notice the 6-4 degree difference. Take that thing back to the dealer and tell em to take it out and compare it with other 2's on the lot, hell go with em, beacuse in my eyes the the very Idea of the AC is comfort over performance. IF you have to be yoked to it, it better damn be like an arctic tundra in there when it's on.
