Well, 12 DC is a lot for sensitive electronics, and if there isn't a good diode in the ballast it can be a disaster. I guess if they can come out with the kit without defining the polarity they must be prepared anyway.
Oh I want a multimeter, but I want the ones I use in my lab which are around $100. But I can't afford it yet lol.

I personally feel that most of these kits are put together in a hurry, so they could care less if you are fully aware of which wire is which.

That said, if you want to do it right, get a device to tell you. Otherwise, the chance that something will go wrong after plugging it in the wrong way is pretty close to zero. It doesn't seem right, but many have done it. And for the record, I paid $200 for my kit some time ago, so I had more to lose, if that makes you feel any better.

A cheap multimeter can be used for more than just this on your car though, so it's a good thing to have.

And, finally, I believe there is no consistency at all in stripe/solid, red/green, etc. That doesn't seem to mean anything in headlight wiring... Peace.

OK I just plug in the wire as the same direction as the driver side and it worked. Now, I wonder do you just leave the connector for the power outside just like that? I'm just worried that if it rains really hard it might create a short, or am I worried too much?
btw, the light is awesome lol.

Ok i'm installing my HID kit (apexcone) and all is working in order.

My problem is i can't fit the bulb properly in the headlight and close the little bracket, is there something i need to do? dremel the plastic pins or something?

These brackets are a real pain in the ..

When I did it I had to rotate the holder to horizontal position. You can see there are six 'legs' on the holder, and the two long ones need to go in parallel to the ground otherwise I couldn't close the clip. BUT, the long legs are too long to put it fully so I had to cut the edge a little big, like 2mm...After that it's all good, but still needs a little upward force when closing the clip.
Sorry for my English, and maybe there is a better way than cutting but that's what I did lol.

Can you post a pic of how the beam pattern looks against a wall? I'm looking into getting a kit pretty soon. My silverstars died after about 5 months.

maxchoa, i've had hid's in both cars with the connectors out and exposed like that and no worries.

Shoot, even the stock headlight plug isn't sealed, so i woulnd't worry about it

And Koolkeef, here's a shot i took

Apexcone 4300K hid kit in my car on the right, stock on the pass. side of wife's car and ultra's are driver's side

I think what you did, maxchao, is awesome. Though personally I've been running exposed, but it does bother me at times, and I will probably end up fixing it like you did, just because I feel I should.

Pro5x2 my HIDS don't have a such defined patern when I light em up against a wall. Did you ajust the alignment?

yeah I also thought of covering the connection but then again, even on the stock setup, they hang out without any protection so..

i adjusted the vertical alignment, yeah, it's the 10mm nut on the back side of the headlight


but that cutoff above is nothing compared to what is on its way

I wish i had taken pics, but I had Silverstars on my car for a few months before they burned out and they had a rather impressive cutoff, and a very wide beam, then I put in Sylvania XtraVisions and pattern-wise they look nothing like my Silverstars did, more like the 2nd pic Pro5x2 posted. I wonder if anyone's noticed someting similar.

Edit: I went back and looked at the pics, my current bulbs look nothing like any of the pics you posted 5x2.
