Hey,

Has anyone installed HID's into there stock fog lights?

If so help!!
Any recommendations on how to do this?
The hole in the back on the foglights is to small to fit any of the wiring from the HID's.

Thanks in advance.

Chris

H3, or H3C? the H3 HID bulb might not even fit into the housing. i think they are too long. have you tried the bulb in the housing yet?

ya the bulb fits not problem.. i can even get the metal clips to hold the bulb in place to work..

My problem is the connectors that run to the ballast are to big to fit through the tiny whole in the back of the fog casing.

I suppose i could drill it out but id rather not.

If i did the hole would be open where the wires ran through, would i have to seal it so water doesnt get in or would it be okay without?

drill a hole in the fog light housing?

and i know there is at least one person running hid's in there fogs, cause i remember seeing it and thinking that s*** must be bright as hell

there is a grommet but its about twice as big as the hole in there now.. guess i could cut the hole so the grommet fits tho.

the only other thing I cant hing of doing is cutting the wires on the ballast and then feed them through the hole in the fog light and solder them back together..

ya i was thinking about that too.. but id rather not cut them.

I know theres someone thats done this... speak up!!! :D

i have hid fogs, no cutting required except for the rubber cover

looked great while they worked

Ah, there was your problem. I've been reading almost everyone that ran the H3C kit, the bulbs popped. Anybody running a full H3 kit?

from what i understand, its from the design of the H3C bulb. while they are close to the actual H3 halogen bulbs, they were initially designed for use in scuba gear, to be operated on 25w power, not 35w. so, basically, running them in an automotive environment, you are over powering them, which leads to premature failure. in an automotive application, they will typically only last about a year, unfortunately.

even more unfortunate, is that i am coming up on my one year anniversary on mine. :(
