HID 6000K vs 4300K Pics

Thanks for the link jeebusm3! Will either buy this (4500k) kit or the Apexcone 4300k from XenonExpert.

On page 1 I posted a pic comparing stock halogen(far left), Silverstar Ultra(pass. side left car) and the 4300K 35 watt HID kit in my car on the right. If you're worried about it being yellow, it isn't. It's PURE white.
yep, saw this pic and must say this is one of the strongest examples I've seen of why 4300k's are probably the way to go. My problem is, I’m so programmed to viewing halogen’s as “white”, and so used to them because obviously they’re 95% of what you see on the road. Because cameras suck at pulling in the accurate color temp of headlights, 4300k’s in pics sometimes appear to match what halogen’s look like in real life… so that’s why I extrapolate that 4300k’s have a yellowness to them in real life as well. It takes a comparison shot like yours to put things in perspective. (And those aren’t even OEM halogens, they’re the almighty Siverstars, so proves the point even more.)

With recent work to our house, budget’s tight right now... but if nothing else, cash for my bday comes in a few weeks. (naughty) Thanks again guys!

The bulb to the far left is the oem halogen. The pass side is the Ultras. It isn't easy to tell in that pic, but, the Ultras are SOOO much whiter than stock. So that shows how much whiter the 4300K kit is. Probably one of the best mods on my whole car. Increasing visibility for me is numero uno

I know Jim and the Apexcone guys, you can't go wrong either way. I haven't run the DDM slim ones yet, but I have to admit the bulky ballasts bugged me with my old HID kits and the thought of ballasts 1/3 the size very much intrigue me.

I'm running the DDM slims and love it. Only issue, which really isn't an issue, but the ignitor is not in the ballast(that's how they could make it so slim)

Not really an issue as you can mount the things pretty much anywhere.

I say go with ApexCone. You get a 1 year warranty right off the bat and can opt for a full lifetime warranty

Yeah I think I'm planning on the Apexcone 4300k w/lifetime warranty... not that I question their quality, but seems like $25 well spent.

I do wonder how they can be 1/3 of the cost of Phillips, but seems like they have a good track record so won't ask. I guess like a lot of things it probably comes mostly down to paying for the name.

As stated, the blue and purple inside luxury car projectors is not due to the Kelvin temp, but, rather, as stated the lens and cuttoff inside the projector. You can mod most any projector to get a bluer even purple color at the cutoff but still have the beam pattern at 4300K

nice pic..
this brings out my previous question...halogen projector lense and HID projector lense are "different" if so.. how?

as far as i know.. the way projector works is "same" light source is "same".. focal point is "same" only think i can think of is."LENSE" itself..

someone shine me some light..(RTM)

apexcone gets their s*** in mad bulk right now, and has some good connections.

The projector bowls between Halogen and HID's are different. I changed out my Halogen projector for HID's awhile ago and you can tell a physical difference. I didn't take pics of the inside of the projectors but check out a lighting forum and you'll get some pretty good photos. I've returned 2 sets of 5000k HID's in the past couple weeks because they just don't perform like 4000k
