Hiboost + cold = nothing

Well, Brian, are you going to share your hypothesis with the rest of the class?

Juan is sending me a new F10 unit with the revised cold-start mapping. To be honest, I didn't have any problems until it dropped into the single digits. We'll see how this goes.

Find out if Deckedoutmp3(5?) ever got his cold start problems fixed before he sold his car. He had the same kit.

I have no issues starting up in cold weather, but then again cold weather in TX isn't all that cold.

I do have issues with RE starting the car after its warmed up. It idles really jumpy for hald a minute. I am waiting on my WB02 to tune it right.

As a matter of fact, it was doing the jumpy idle tonight for while the turbo timer was running the car.

i got some problems with cold starts.. and this is southern california cold starts... like 40's low 50's weather i gotta turn the key for 1 or 2 seconds and do it again about 2 or 3 times then it'll start... .

guys..it was minus 15 degrees celsius...and I had a bit of trouble starting the car, but it started. Those of you with an FMU based system or using extra injectors definately have a good deal in these extreme cold conditions.

And I was waiting for the Haltech bashing to begin .... I'm surprised it took the second page to hear about it. Nick what took you so long? :)

No one ever said they were perfect...plus this cold start issue is not new...but was openly talked about last season.

I'll take fine tuning stock injectors (or in my case 440cc) in the stock location over adding extra injectors in the throttle body any day. The benefits far outweigh this one and only issue I have had with the Hiboost system.

I am now on 40,000 km+ on my kit/car and the kit has worked far better than I expected with very little maintanence.

Wow, i love how this s*** turned into a "OMG THE TRUTH ABOUT HALTECHS". **** off already. its so bulls***, why do you start this crap, over and over. this isnt a thread to show why the MPI is better or whatever . The MPI isn't perfect either. the cold start thing is mainly due to the cold start fuel map, it needs to be tuned correctly. juan cant tune it for the entire globe, alright?

god. this s*** is so ******* stale.

While Dexter may be strong in voicing his opinion (too strong some times..hint...hint), he may have a valid point. What he is saying, it really does seem like that when you read your post Nick.

What goes around comes around. How many times do you see people jump on the MPI Tuner threads and post that they would not have problems if the had the Haltech or the Emanage. Seems to me that someone has been posting for over a year about bigger injectors and there problems. Most of the time it is the same few people that start the s*** anyhow. Now the man can not start his car and the other guy needs to crank it over 2-3 times before it starts. Sounds good to me. It is an EMS problem, not sure. Like it or not we run extra injectors and always start with the MPI Tuner.

The most powerful cars on this forum run the MPI Tuner with extra injectors. They are also the fastest on boost only.

if my post is too strong is because im tired of this stupid bickering over a box of electronic parts like its the holy grail, man. its so lame. why can we just get along.

let us be more(canada) in our ways.

Dexter...thank you...

Here we have post about someone having problems with cold starting..and he is looking for HELP with getting it to run better.

Therefor...the purpose of the thread is to ASSIST him.

Nick...How does your post in any remote way assist him?

Answer: It does not.

What it does do: Further show that you love to pimp out your product in the most unprofessional way (which you are consistant at). It also is direspectful of Pretzellogic's thread.

You have a good product...but I am so amazed at your inability to represent it and your services.

Pretzellogic sorry for this thread jack.

Let me know if you need any assistance. I will see if I have any older notebooks hanging around my office (I'm a product manager at Toshiba Canada). PM me if you need...

Any votes toward a tuning methodoligies thread to discuss issues like how to get a car to idle in cold weather, throttle on hesitations, boost fall off tuning etc? If so I'll put up a thread tonight and get it started. I think that may be useful for most, and for questions like this. That way it isn't a HiBoost, MPI, Microtech, or AEM thread and we can discuss what it takes to get a car to run, not what is running it.

Update: The car has been sitting for two days now, out in the cold. It has warmed up to maybe 20 f. Just got home from work (thank god for carpool) and tried to start it. Still no dice. It cranks and cranks. I did have a couple good backfires out the tailpipe, though.

Brian has given something for me to try. After I warm up, I'm going back out there to give it a whirl.

Juan is sending me a new f10 unit with the new (and experimental) cold map. It should warm up in the next couple of days, so I"m hoping that I can get her started in time to go home for christmas.

Spicy: the DX of boosted P5s? I think I'm gonna use that one. :D

For what its worth my emanage is a b**** to start when its cold as well, If I hook the ignition wires back up directly and bypass the emanage it starts perfectly. Then after the car gets warm again it will start no problem by connecting the ignition wires back.

I dont drive my car in the winter so its not a big deal for me :)

Good luck getting it to work and dispite all the bickering in this thread please let us know what you find, some of us are more interested in solutions rather than finger pointing ;)
