Hiboost + cold = nothing

One's car must start before it can blow up :D

She's running again. I need to get the new setup without the crossover intake pipe. Having to remove that, along with the oil like attached to it, makes the job of pulling the plugs and coils much harder than it should be.

Nice, glad to hear you're back up and running. Did you just clean the plugs again, or did you do something else?

Yup. Cleaned plugs. Cranked the s*** out of it to clean it out, then fired her up.

I suppose the answer lies in fiddling with the cold maps.

I would hope so. Keep us posted, as I will be dropping some money on one of the stand alones available in the next couple of weeks. I E-filed my tax return today. (eekdance)

Pretz, you're running the F10 or the F10X? Did Juan mention any changes between the two that might affect cold start issues? It was VERY cold for this are last night and I had no problems....if there is a change maybe you could "upgrade" boxes or something??

Maybe it is the plugs. I will try to get a set of 1 step hotter plugs.

-minus 18 Celcius the other day...and it started on the second try. this is using the unadjusted maps originally found with the kit.

I am using Extended Reach NGK Iridiums Heat range:5. I find they are 10x better at cold starting than my last winter season using regular NGKs.

wow! people can actually survive in -18* weather!! Do you melt on 80* days?!?!

I'm going to be doing a lot of sparkplug research when I start dyno tuning the WOMP...i'd like you other haltech owners opinions.

-19 Celcius tomorrow morning...

I use heat range 5 in the winter.... I hardly boost in the winter and I run 94 octane and have lower compression pistons...

I have never had detonation.. regardless of what combination plug and gas.

sounds like you're having good luck with everythign other than this sub-0 temperature issue. are you running the base maps?? Sounds like you've got a good tune.

base maps...the difference from some of troubles I had last year are next to gone. I have only done two things different.... Iridium Extended Reach Heat Range 5 and my Nology Hotwire Kit... it seems that I have solved m situation to a "certain" extent.

As I mentioned somewhere up in this post, it is really TOUGH and time consuming to try and remap in the cold when you work 9-5 everyday and are in a suit each morning.

I am going to try a map from Juan soon...to see if it improves.... I have been LAZY on my part to both retune and to load Juan's test maps.

Remember that YP5 is in toronto, so those sub-zero terms are in celcius.

Well, it's morning, cold, and I'm afraid to start my car. If she doesn't start, I need to pull everything apart again. Dammit, this is pissing me off.

Okay.... MINUS 25 Celicius this morning.... regardless of stock or aftermarket...its damn cold to try to start anything...

I did not take any chances this morning and and connected my battery charger to my battery. This charger has a "starter" mode that provides plenty of cranking amps to the setup.

(last season this is the weather that did "bother" me)

It took about 4-5 turns and a bit of feathering of the gas pedal...but it started up.

Pretz: What oil are you running? I would honestly see if you can get your hands on some IRIDIUMS from NGK and untill Juan tweaks the maps a bit more, get your hands on a battery charger/starter.

I have a set of the extended reach Iridium heat ranges 6 & 7. I am currently running the 7s right now, and will switch to 6's a little later.
