Hesitation or something else?

I have about 2 thousand miles on my Speed and i know what turbo lag feels like....you hear the spool but it goes no where. Anyway, i was driving hope tonight and this has never happened to me before. It felt like the car was bogging out on me. If you ever tried to unhook your BPV and rev your engine, that is what it sounded and felt like. My foot was off the clutch so i have no clue what happened. I looked at my RPM gauge and it was wobbling pretty furiously, i couldn't believe my eyes  Is this just the normal hesitation or have i found a new problem. Also, how long do you think our engines will last if we drive them moderatly hard and soft...I am thinking about 90-110k? Any other estimates?

Sounds like the hesitation to me..my car has done that from day 1. The Joe P FPR made it better but it still does it after the car gets hot.

I see no reason you can't get 150-200k from the engine as long as you run stock boost levels.

Yep, what you are describing sir is what I believe to be the infamous hesitation. I have the exact same problem. Just gotta hang in there for the reflash.

oh, so it is just that, whew, i started to get worried....for some reason this is getting worse....do you think i gets use to your style of driving? Cause i use to drive it hard, but i now i just drive.....so i wonder? hmmmmmmm

Mine got worse too. Usually it depends on if the car is pretty heatsoaked or just the weather outside. Mine runs like crap in hot weather but runs decently enough when its cool.

that is what i don't get...it wasreally cool when it did this, that is why i am worried....

The Mazdaspeed also runs excessively rich, Get Joe P's FPR kit, it will help keep your car from falling on it's face.

Good Luck,

Hmm, the only thing that gives me pause, is that when my car hesitates, the tach does does not fluctuate wildly as he said his did. Have you guys noticed your tach doing that during hesitation? To me, this would indicate something a little more involved than just rich fuel mapping. Especially if it happens frequently.

well considering that joe's fpr kit doesn't work for everyone might also contribute to your hunch Tex. I think it might be a combination or timing retard + enrich fuel = hesitation
