Hey guys,
I have been reading a lot on the forums about the SRI and its something that I would like to do. But I have a few questions.
Keep in mind that I have a stock, automatic transmission, protege es 2003.
First, how recommendable on performance and product quality wise would it be to buy a no-name SRI on eBay for 40$ and to add to it a k&n air filter for another 40$? This compared to a 250$ AEM short ram.
Secondly, I have read here and there that getting an SRI would lower my torque on low RPM, around 3000 or less. Is that true? If so, why..? Isn't it supposed to help "increase" air flow in a car?
Thirdly, my stock air filter system takes air from the front of the car, which is "cold". How would a short ram intake take "cold" air if it's sitting in the engine bay and is sucking warm air?
I would also like to know, for someone that is still new into this modding world, how hard would it be for me to un mount the stock intake system and install a SRI?
Thank you.
