Hey all you guys (and girls) with kids i need some advice/ your opinion.

My son has bee coughing and congested for months now. It started as a cold and never left. we take him to the ped. but she says his lungs are fine. During the day he's ok... but at night he is miserable (which breaks my heart man). he coughs this hacking cough all night.
we've tried all the usual medicines on and off but nothing really seems to help.

some say it's teething and the saliva just runs back in their through but idk????

has anyone been through this or found anything that works???

peace

could be allergies..

I actually had the same problem.. I moved to PA and I mysteriously started getting sick (congestion, sore throat, loss of appetite) for long periods of time. Nobody could figure out what it was. One day I gave up and tried a claritin OTC and it worked like a charm.. I guess I figured out what that was.

did you try a dehimidifier in his room? I know that al of my nephews have needed to have one running in order to stop hacking. Also, can you describe the cough a bit more? Is it like a dry cough(hacking) or a wet cough? you should be able to tell the difference. also, is he weezing when breathing in?

Whatever it is, make sure you get him tested for onset asthsma. It can basically come at any age, and some of the syptoms would put him in candidacy for this.

hope it all works out man...

Yes Had some of those problems the de humidifier works well. It was more than that in our case we took him to a ear and throat ped and found out that he had a post nasal drip. So know he gets albuterol right before bed time in the form of a nebulizer problem solved he sleeps right through the night. Alergies can cause that as well we where told.So might give some thought to that our talk to your ped about an allergist about some easy tests. And good look its hard on everyone when a child is sick .

Allergies I would think. I lived with my GF and her cats for a few years and developed asthma so horrible it cost me @ 200 a month in meds. We broke up, I moved out, and within a week or so I stopped using my inhaler. Now my lungs are great. I thought I was going to be disabled for life!

My little bro had this problem growing up. Nebulizer maintained. The humidifier is not a bad idea either.

his lungs won't be fine anymore after a while...
exactly that way i got asthma and kept it until today :\\\

you might try going to a homeopath, he might be more interested in your son's problems than a regular doctor... i wish my mom wouldve been that clever when i was young 8(

Also, another advice would be to get a different pediatrician for gods sake.
