Help the noob out!!

:
Nissan 240SX
I just got my first car ever, an '02 black AT P5, 2~3 months ago. It came with a little under 50k on it, fully stock :( . So, to help the appearance on it, I wanted to install a few mods. But, since I'm new to all this, I wasn't sure what...please help.

dg motorsports has some nice lips for it, Wings west has a kit and extreme dimensions has a lip as well. auto rnd has the mint blue kits which look pretty sweet

Congrats and welcome to the boards. I have the Dg motorsports pieces and love'em, but all the other fore mentioned companies all make good stuff. Depends on your preferences.

The great thing about our cars is that they look good even when stock. Here are just a couple of ideas of what you could do in addition to what has been already mentioned.

1. Tint the windows. Always looks good when professionally done.
2. Lose the stock wheels and get some 17s.
3. Specialty or painted emblems.
4. Paint your brake calipers (red is most popular).
5. Lowering kit.
6. If you don't use the roof racks, you can lose them. Check out the 2003.5 P5 for an example of what it looks like w/o. Once you remove the rails you need another piece to cover where they were removed. I saw the part number mentioned here once before but can't remember the thread I saw it in.

These are just some random ideas. I'm sure you'll come up with your own. Don't look at my P5 as an example. It's pretty much stock with the exception of the tint.

2k2silvermp5, that's a sweet looking CRX. That's one car I wish I could go back in time and own. People absolutely loved that car. I think the design (like the ill-fated Fiero GT) is timeless.

Should I buy the mods at the Marketplace on this site or should I look into some other sites outside this one. I just wasn't sure if it is safe or not (yupnope) , kinda like Ebay I guess.

Hey, Thanks for the compliments on my CRX.

My suggestion is to leave the body alone (except if you do something to the rear of the car.) It looks great the way it is, plus body work is very expensive, imagine how much it would cost especially if you get in even a minor accident. I was in a very minor accident and the damage was $1400. Body kits will break easy if you hit something even at 1 mph (like I did). SO I suggest to only do something to the rear, because insurance will cover that if someone rear ends you (its pretty hard to say it is your fault when you are rear ended). I think you should focus on performance, the car already looks much better than 99.9% of the cars out there. Just spend all your money on making it faster. THat's the best way to go.

whats up,
dude i have a 03 p5 and i made it a complete sleeper, i almost beat a mazdaspeed the other day. i had a custom turbo kit put on and almost doubled my horesepower at 5lbs. dont get too crazy with all of the body stuff because these cars are already sexy and you dont want to cross over to the ricer world do you? make it fast, it will pay off and plus it pisses off guys who spend over $30gs on their cars that get beat by a p5. thats fun. think about it, if you need a custom kit write me back and i can see what i can do aight?

A few relatively inexpensive aesthetic mods:

1) Tint
2) Aftermarket shift knob
3) DaveB Guage rings (if you are luck enough to find some)
4) Shorty antenna (try eBay)

These few mods really give the P5 a more "expensive" feel without going overboard...I'd do these el cheapo mods first before more radical purchases (springs, rims, etc.).

All told, those four mods should run only $250-300 USD.

A great way to find the mods is lurk around this site-especially in the apperance and photo/video section. There are some threads in the photo section dedicated to specific colors. Find what you like, and ask about the mods...

I bought most of my stuff from forum members, new and used parts. This is the best place to find any info on these cars.

Some guy showed me the BuddyClub2 body kit for the P5 and that kit is the sex. The price seems to range from $599 all the way up to $900. Anyone know the cheapest place to get the kit with all the shipping included??
Thanks for all the help...

Hey, I'm working on my P5 also, and I think the best place to get ideas, is catalogs from auto parts stores, I like the O'reilly performance and accessories catalog ($5), It has pictures & prices of items that will fit your car, an example is on page s53 of the 2004 cat. it is advertising suspension springs and has a picture of one of the coolest p5 i've seen.

Another catalog is from SummitRacing.com, they will send you one free but it takes a month or so to get it. My problem is I can't afford to buy what I want. But I have new 18" rims on the way, so check out my ride.....http://www.cardomain.com/id/waltsmazda

your going to love the p5.. the way it looks stock is already so much better than most cars you can get out there...
but do look at the photos section in the forum... you'll get a lot of ideas there...
or just search for wingswest, mintblue, buddyclub, dgm, autoexe, ebruni, using the search function on this forum.

just order from buddyclub2. com, their shipping sucks so its ganna take at least 2-3 months to get the kit, no matter what they say on the phone. I havr to call them a bunch of times and they just said yea, yea we shipped it and all this other bulls***, so if you get a buddyclub2 your just ganna have to wait a long while.
