Help Installing AWR Motor Mounts

I just bought front/rear AWR Motot Mounts for 2002 P5. I don't have much time to install and I thought I would have a shop install them for me. Well...I was given the estimate of $312 to have them installed, I thought I would find out what other P5 owners have done. The $312 include 3.9 hours of labor and using some type of lift.

I have read some posts before and other P5 owners always say how easy they were to install. Can anyone give some pointers and help.

the front is a 30 min job at absolute most....i had to find a breaker bar to use, which took some time and i would not attempt the rear without having lots of time avail. someone told me 1.5 hour job at a dealer.

well... being that you will have them installed at a shop... 300 bucks sounds about right.

i installed them myself, but i have access to air tools and a lift. it's true, the front mount can be done in about a half hour (maybe less if you've done it before on a protege.)

the rear mount is a pain in the ass... but it's definately do-able. it's not hard to do... just a definate knuckle buster because you have to do the work from behind the intake manifold. their is a wiring harness that you have to unclip so that you can get to the bolts/nuts for the motor mount... that freaking clip is a pain in the ass...

i suggest doing it yourself, just for the learning experience... then if you cant finish and you give up... take it to the shop to finish... i know for sure that you will be able to replace the front mount yourself... sometimes you don't even need to jack up the car... :-)

hope this helps.

When doing the front just support the engine so you can releive the stress on the mount to unbolt it. Im waitng for mine to come in the mail and am so excited. the rear, since ive heard is a b****, im gunna have a friend from work help me( i work at a shop...lucky me). let us know how it goes.

That bad huh?

My front is in the mail, I just got the tracking number. I took the stock one out the other day in about 15-20 minutes, although a breaker bar was required...

not at all, i loved them both, but then the VTCS screw came off and had to be fixed under warranty, so i took the motor mounts off just in case, then sold it because i didn't want to pay again to be put back in....
