HELP!! I keep getting hacked!!

:
2001 Honda Prelude Type SH

Okay, I noticed that my comp was starting up slow, so I downloaded the Spybot prog to see what's wrong. Turns out that I have several viruses in the startup menu, but I managed to shut it off. The viruses keep coming back, with a different one each time.

So, I downloaded Norton anti-virus and Norton Internet Security, but people are still attacking me.

I caught the one of the hackers' IP tonight and reported it to his ISP provider. Other than that, what can I do to the person's IP? I have no idea how he got my IP because I do not log onto IRC, and the sites I view are limited to just a few forums.

The trial version of my Norton progs are going to expire in a few days, and I would like to know how I can protect myself. Thanks in advance.

To add to that, I'm only on a 56k, so I don't need a router.. as many people have already suggested.

Who did you piss off man???

Ask your internet provider to change your login name and information so you will be harder to find, that is if you are personally getting targeted.

It may be Spyware on your PC. Go to www.lavasoftusa.com and download AdAware. It will scan your system and remove it all. Spyware tends to regenerate itself until it has all been thoroughly removed. A lot of times you get it from porn and warez sites.

The first question I have is do you have kazaa or something similar installed? If yes, regardless of what you do- you will not be able to remove the spyware- it will keep replicating itself- If you don't have it, or once you get rid of it, then I would reccommend going to http://www.tinysoftware.com and download their free firewall- easy to use and free...... Oh, and if you still want something for file sharing without the spyware, download winmx ad free and whatnot.....

Hey guys, thanks for all your advice. I do not have Kazaa or any of those freeware/spyware programs, and I do not surf on any porn sites; that's why I'm so clueless to why I keep getting viruses and trojans on my computer.

Doesn't matter if use kazaa or not, just browsing the internet these days you can get a lot of spyware on your machine from that

Get adaware from www.lavasoft.de

Make sure you UDATE IT BEFORE scanning.

Then get Spybot. Again, UPDATE IT before scanning.

You may have to run each several times.

Also a good idea to run these while Windows is in safe Mode. That way you get rid of all of them.

I would also make sure you have all the Critical Updates from www.windowsupdate.microsoft.com installed. There are worms/viruses that will replicate on your system if the Critical Updates are not installed.

As was suggested earlier, update all the Norton, Spybot, and Adaware software, and keep scanning until nothing is found.

also , try checking out the add/remove programs in the control panel. There may be crap like Gator and stuff installed. If you do not recognize the program, look it up to make sure you need it. If you do not, uninstall it.

After all that is done, and you still have problems, I would wipe the box and start fresh.

Lets condese this..

0. Make sure you have the latest Windows updates and hotfixes.
1. download adaware from lavasoft.
2. purchase a real version of norton.. live by it.. it will be page one of the next bible.
3. anytime you want you can open command prompt and type "netstat" to get all of the ip addresses connected to you. Likewise, type "netstat -n" to get the ip and isp of the people attached to you.. If you have the ip, go to www.arin.net and type it in to see who the ISP is.

If you know exactly what the spyware/hijacker program is and you still can't remove it then search the internet for a solution. Just do a search on the program's name and you will find some very specific methods for removing it.

I had my homepage hijacked and it took me about a couple of hours to find the solution.

I run both Spybot and Ad-Aware and neither was able to fix the problem. I ended up using Hijack This to fix the problem. Hijack This can't fix anything in and of itself. Instead, you run the program and then post the logfile on some bulletin boards where people know what they are doing. They will then tell you exactly what to remove. Worked for me.

Buy Mac.

Seriously.

Why buy a new PC when you can enjoy Linux =)
It's free

And i agree about ad-aware. It has kept my windows boxes pretty clean so far. Just make sure it's up to date and that it's setup to scan within archives and all the registry options.
