Hi all,

my husband and i are completely smitten with the CX9 - OF COURSE - but are completely lost on how much we should expect to pay below or above invoice. Some of you guys have posted some amazing deals - I am just not so sure we can get anything like that in the great white north. The best deal the dealer could give us, SO FAR, for a 2009 Grand Touring AWD is $45000 + tax. (Invoice price was $43554) I dont know if thats a good deal or not, but i REALLY dont want to take a bath on this thing...

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

kayahead,
Also check edmunds.com's forum on CX9 buying experience thread.
Mush more active there on buying. You should get more responses about Canadian pricing.

The invoice price was $43554? Even if that's Canadian dollars that sounds either ridiculously high or the MSRP to me.

Oh BELIEVE ME its ridiculously high. The MSRP is $47330 for the CX9 AWD GT. Dont know what numbers you guys are getting down south, but consider yourselves lucky

Canada is a relatively small auto market. Vehicles are more expensive due to economy of scale.
Some vehicles are priced reasonable close to US, others are much more expensive.

In US (California, at least), with cash(or outside loans), you could get $4000 rebate + $3400 discount from MSRP. That is $7400 from MSRP for loaded GT (AWD or not). For a lower trim model, you would get probably around $6800-7000 off. If you own a Mazda currently, you can get another $1000 as loyalty discount on top of these amount.
That is for 2009 model, not 2008.

Why? Are you all still riding horses up there?

Only been there once.

Going on highway into Quebec was certainly an interesting experience seeing all signs changed into French.... That was fun before the days of GPS navigation.

we're getting an '09 stormy blue GT with luxury package (no nav) for $45,942. this includes freight/pdi but not taxes. is this a good/fair price? we hope so...

I hope that you live in Canada and if you do, it is still like 41,300 US dollars which is super high. I got tissue (invoice) and 1500 more off because of the rebate for about 5+k off sticker price and others have supposedly gotten 7 or 8k off sticker

Hey Blue cx9, I do think thats a good price. We ended up getting ours, a copper red mica with luxury pkg (no nav) for $46,648 with taxes. We also took this with the 0% financing....that was absolutely the lowest they were willing to go I think...so yeah, you got a good price.

Yes, this price is for Canada. I'm in Vancouver, BC.

So, you paid $46,648 plus taxes? Pretty good. Yeah, we're getting the 0% financing for 5 years too... great deal. We pick up the car tomorrow!

Hey Blue...hope you are enjoying your new car - we get ours on the weekend. Tell me, did you get any freebies with your deal or was that the most you could get out of them?

Down south?

Down South you want, down south you get: Mexico!

Back in February, fully loaded 09 GT AWD (sans nav or electric gate), with sat radio and the rest of the stuff of the US version.

MX$ 460K sticker, or US$34 350. I think they're going for $36800 last week.

Freebies? I got the plastic mats on top of the carpet ones. There's a waiting list!

One thing about servicing it in the US though: They do the oil change and topping off and whatever the hell else for $35 bucks or so. Service in Mexico (cheap by our standards) is roughly $55. At least you get the car washed, armor-alled and vaccummed when you pick it up and a ride to/from work/home while they work on it.

love the car so far! we also got them to throw in the all weather floor mats and a "preferred customer" card. basically gives us a 15% discount on parts and free oil and filter for life. we would still have to pay for labour though.

tried to get them to throw in the mudguards too, but they wouldn't budge. had to buy them.

did you get free sirius satellite radio? i think it's for 6 months? not sure if ours is active or not!?

How much will an oil/filter change be, then?
oil + filter ~= $10 US dollar.

We picked up our 2009 CX9 last month in Ajax, Ontario and paid $41K (Canadian). The unit is GT AWD (naturally), luxery package with Nav and Sat radio (6 months free). I should mention that this was a Mazda Exec vehicle with 18,000 KM on it (10,800 Mi).

Incidentally the people at Mazda tell me that on a per capita basis they sell more cars / trucks in Canada and the US! This was their rational for not having a dual mode trip computer / odometer etc. This is the only fault I have with the vehicle, my 1986 New Yorker had this functionality 24 years ago, a real pain for those of us who drive into the States a lot!

You could always import a CX-9 from the US. Fairly painless process if you find a dealer willing to sell you one. The CDN dollar isn't too far from parity at the moment and looks to continue trending higher due to commodity prices.

I picked up a new 2008 CX9 Touring (FWD, BOSE + Roof) last year for $26.5k, about $33k CDN after taxes and fees.
