Just picked up a Brilliant Black Mazda 2 Sport. 310 smiles ago. Neat little car. 5 speed MT, 36 mpg first fill-up mixed highway and city with fairly aggressive break-in. Will post some pics this weekend after wash (black is so hard to keep clean but looks awesome when waxed).
North-eastern US is the current stomping ground.
Oil change at 600 miles, probably next weekend.

Welcome! What part of the NorthEast? I'm down in Maryland. Let me know how the Brilliant Black works out for you. That's what I have, and let me just say, I feel like if I look at one spot for too long it'll scratch it. I find that abrasive materials scratch the paint very easily... and by abrasive I mean things like sponges, microfiber towels... bunny rabbits.

Also, why the oil change at 600? Seems a little excessive, especially for full synthetic.

Black is dirty already! When clean it looks awesome. Just another expense, I guess. And yes the plastic looks like it may not take well to being poked with stilettos or other sharp implements. I also collected a chip on the nose piece so I have to use my Miata touch-up paint this weekend (also BB colored).
The early OC is based on my experience with bikes and other engines. I called a dealer today and asked them for the specs on the original fill. Answer: synthetic-blend. Q2: what about refill oil? A2: Synthetic only. Hmmmmm. I guess tomorrow I have to order some Oil Analysis kits. I ordered 5 quarts, a filter and a washer (Mazda parts from Finishline my crack supplier for the Miata).
Location is closer to NNJR SCCA region (hint).
Tomorrow I also have to register the car with Mazda Motorsports Development for some nice discounts on go-fast or look-fast parts.

What oil did you order, Joker? Did you find a synthetic 0w20?
