Fabrication complete, I may need to adjust height after driving. Throttle is solid carbon fiber. Brake is 4130 plate covered with CF, oem pad removed, bottom bolt has a 4130 plate under oem pedal to distribute load, top use washers only. Spacers can be added between 4130 plate and oem pedal to adj. height.

Interesting, I'd worry a bit about the sole of my shoe getting caught under the brake pedal extension when on the throttle though. Pedal placement definitely has room for improvement in these cars, I may have to see what I can do with mine.

It is super easy to heal and toe in the 2. Way easier then in a Miata. Then again I can heel and toe in about anything because I hit the brake differently. I hit the top of the brake pedal with the ball of my fooot so it is easy to get to the gas with my heel or with the side of my foot.

It does look good though. I would think that you can feel the screw heads on the bottom of your feet though. That is the only thing I don't like.

Yep, just roll your foot over and there's the gas pedal!

I made a simular brake pedal mod to one of my other cars about 5 yeasr ago, 45k miles of street and track use with no issues. The bolts on that pedal are larger AN3's and I never notice them but everyone is different. The thru bolts allow easy hight fine tuning. Virtually all my down shifts in daily driving are heel toe and the club I competed with would not issue a license if a driver could not heel toe. Foot size? driving position? I don't know but I could not make it work in the 2. My 3 is a little better but I plan to modify that as well. You would think that with all the zoom zoom ads the pedals and the tach would be better located. Of our six cars ( all manual ) only the WRX has decent pedal and proper tach locations in stock form.

it took me a few months to get used to heel and toe on the 2. In my rx7, when I brake, I hit the lower part of the brake pedal, on the mazda 2, I have to hit the top part.

Cool. I've never found it hard to heel-toe in the 2 though, but if it makes it easier for you then great.

Looks like a good mod. Is there a texture to the pedal at all?

-Derrick

No texture at this time, if I find the surface slippery I can use the other side of the CF which is rough weave. The pedals as photographed are a starting point, final trimming and spaceing will be done when I can drive the car. Waiting for spring.
