r u sure? the bottom half is still connected to the heater controls, i havent gotten a chance to take the time n disect it, i do stereo installs(security & mobile video) for a liven, n the last thing i wanna do at the end of my day is rack my brain tryen to dismantle my own car.. so if anyone has exact instuctions please write..

1) The HVAC controls are attached to the radio surround trim.
2) The HVAC controls are connected by three cables to the rest of the HVAC system.

So, you have to disconnect the three cables so that you can pull the radio surround trim out far enough to remove the four screws that hold the HVAC controls onto the trim (or you can just take the panel and controls right out if you carefully guide the cables out as well.)

You already know where one cable is (temperature control). Another can be seen if you look under the dash on the drivers side towards the center console. (vent configuration control, e.g. vents, floor, defrost, etc) The third is behind the glovebox on the far right (this is the fresh/recirculate flap).

damn...

that seems like so much work to take off a radio trim..n i thought the older civics were a pain...got any pics??or know where i can get some..?

ha - you're right...I wasn't thinking. I thought you meant the opening between the radio knobs where the cassette player would go.
