2016~2023: Headlights don't seem to throw light far enough

Hi all, am new to Mazdas and to this forum. Bought a 2016 Mazda cx9 Touring recently and happy with everything except the beams from the front headlights.

1) Looks like something is blocking the right beam
2) The light from both headlights stops dead a few metres out. There is a hard line between the shaded and illuminated areas in front of me.
Are these normal. That's what my dealer said. They adjusted the height of the right headlight but no use. They said it's designed that way so as to not dazzle oncoming vehicles.

The problem is, forget about dazzling anyone else, I'm not able to see far out (interestingly high beam is fine)

Welcome to the Mazda family!!

What you are noticing is the cutoff shield inside the light which keeps it from blinding other drivers. With that said your lights look a little low. Hard to tell from the pictures. I think they just need to be raised a little.

Different countries have different light regulations, but here in Canada i can say that both sides on my 2018 GT (left right) don’t show as much as a difference than yours.

As mentioned above, they are easy to raise and lower yourself. What i have done on previous cars is that i have raised it slowly little by little, if incoming drivers starts flashing their light at you, then it is too high and you can dial them back down at that point.

I've always found my cars' headlights were aimed low and I needed to raise them up once I saw where the beam cutoff should be according to the adjustment resource posted above.

My current '22 is the first car I've had where I didn't need to adjust them.

That definitely doesn't look normal to me (at least as far as I remember). I'd follow the link that @youri posted and reference the site @BrettLevy85 posted to adjust your headlights to the proper height.

Hey guys, I followed the procedure and adjusted the headlights. Amazing difference. Problem solved. Thanks a lot once again. And.....no oncoming cars are flashing their lights, so must be good. Cheers.
