Header questions

I'm want to buy a header for my Mp5. I already installed a Catb, & CAI.

I'm confused by the 4 pipes into 2 pipes to 1, or 4 into 1?? What does this all mean or what is the difference?

Will I pass Calif. smog if I install an aftermarket header?

How much louder is the car with an aftermarket header?

Any recomendations on a header I'm thinkin Wagner.. (confused)

you wont pass cali emmissions with any header. period.

wagner is the cheapest but probably has the least gains.
 
u could pass emissions if u installed another cat, although i hear cali has visuals and moght fail u on the spot. The wagner is emssions legal and combined with their downpipe and midpipe u could see some decent gains and stay legal
The difference between a 41 and 421 is that a 41 provides more top end breathing and a 421 is more all around powerband improvement. the OBX is probably the best 41 for the price and the ebay/probe 421 header is a great deal too. U can always swap your equipment out for stock when emissions come.
 
The wagner does maintain all the emissions stuff, and if you put the heat shield on the header nobody could tell that you had it installed. The downpipe would probably be legal if you had 100K on the car, and say that the cat was replaced for age/function.
 
i repeat. none are legal in the truest sense of legal.

yes there are visual inspections. any changes to the exhaust system unless CARB approved are illegal.

it'll be hard to put the heat shield back onto the header since the stock manifold had the bolts for the heat shield. the header won't. so unless you get a slacker inspector, in the state of california, you won't pass emissions. and yeah, they look pretty hard.
 
you can buy my header for a 100 plus shipping, its a racing mazda. 4-1 is high end of the rpm range, 4-2-1 is low end rpm range.
