have a ? about ECU

get a real aftermarket ECU. you will be happier.

also the MP3 ecu wont work.

correct, if its an ecu that comes from an M/T it will not work with A/T.
most computer parts for M/T and A/T aren't swappable.

only get the smt-6 if you have a realy really trustworthy person who knows their s*** about ecu tuning because unlike the mpi, it is not setup for protege use and will need to be tuned and worked on extensively.

Honestly I am looking at the MPi or a haltech unit. If ghost gets the smt6 working properly for more than a month and his software settings are available maybe then Ill consider that unit.

the mpi generally goes for 799, not sure if that comes with extra hardware because it is generally for turbo setups and may be less for a NA but I doubt it. The haltech F series I believe is in the same range....

stand alones your talking a grand to 1200 easy.

depends on what you need...Standalones offer a wider resolution of control, and fully take over the stock ECU's fuel parameters and triggering...A piggyback system does not offer quite as much control or accuracy...but depending on what you need done, it may offer more than enough control...and piggy's are cheaper...

Try a search on this if you are interested...there are tons of threads related to it, be careful though...some are filled with bulls*** and flaming...I would check out the EMS forum, that would probably be the best place to start...
