Has anyone noticed?

When I open the doors, underneath on the inside of the door it's very dirty, and almost like it doesn't seal? I get this in all doors.
Also today a bird pooped on my back window, when it sprayed it got on the inside of the door, so I had to open the back "hatch?" to get it all cleaned off.
Maybe this is stupid and I am too picky but I was wondering if anyone else noticed this?

Thanks

I have not noticed that door syndrome but my passenger front door is a bit sticky when opening....they said it's how they all are so no fix yet. I noticed though that I had to pull out some rubber trim near the tiny window up front on the side, somehow it got pulled underneath the metal. There's areas on all cars will dirt will get in....just happens.

Ok.....I agree with you....they seem way dirty under there than normal.....none of my other Mazdas were this bad. I wonder if there is anything we can do to help that issue. Also, now that I have cleaned her a few times I noticed the grade of carpet is really poor. They skimped there for sure....last two Mazda's were great and my carpet looked new when I sold my vehicles. I feel this will wear away in a year!!! Anyone else notice???

I'm in agreement on the door issue. Wiping down such a wide expanse is troublesome, but I'm also wondering about water going where I can't see. Same for the rear hatch.

I too noticed the carpet... it is like when I used to live on the beach, the carpet would wear down after a year or two. This is what that carpet looks like and it's brand new. The carpet mats also are cheap.. mine are wearing a hole where my heal rests, under the gas pedal, and the edge is becoming frayed... yeah but all said, I love my CX!

Yes....so why is it so dirty there?....it is such a large area....I am not understanding why....though I have not looked from the ground up at the doors. The hatch too....hmmm.....things you don't realize when you simply test drive it.....I still love the car and it would not have swayed my decsion, but it does need a better quality floor mat if the carpet underneath is gonna wear quickly too.

Do you all have the optional splash guards? I wonder if spray coming from the front wheels is getting past the door seals creating the problem. I haven't noticed it yet (after four whole days of ownership) but I have the optional dealer installed hard splash guards.

No, I don't and that may be the answer or at least lessen the problem. Will look into getting the spalsh guards! Duh(to me)....I was not thinking about splash guards....thanks for your input!!!

there IS a gasket, it's just closer to the "bulk" section of the door. None of that grime is getting "in" the vehicle. Nothing to worry about. It forms a tight seal there... just not in that area you can see below.

not to ruin the thread, but how about when the passenger front window is slightly down there is a big humming sound like a helicopter.... im serious! cant figure it out!
i also think my door seals are missing, need to look at it again. I see clips with no seal????

The rythmic humming you hear with one window open is unequalized air pressure doing a harmonic thing to equalize itself (air out - air in the same window) Try opening another window or the sunroof, or changing from fresh to recirc on the heating/ac system.

I find if I desire to have the moon-roof open, I crack the rear windows slightly and it reduces the "pressure" created.

There's a physics term for that...maybe venturi effect? Anyway, I noticed to DO have a fair amount of crud on the bottom part of the inside of the front doors, so I guess the splash guards don't stop the problem. there is a big ol' gasket lining the bottom of the door, though. I guess it doesn't works well, either.

I think what you are talking about are the inside parts of the sheet metal, such as door panels, which are not protected by the weatherstripping. It's always been that way on cars. The weatherstripping seals the door jam only against water (rain and when washing), dust, and wind noise. Same thing with the hatch. If you think about it, you never washed those areas on previous cars because you never looked in those areas for dirt. On sedans and coupes they are smaller.

Here is a tip for those with moonroofs: driving with them open a lot you will eventually notice a black, oily grime on the back seat. It is road grit kicked up by cars and trucks ahead of you and the airstream carries it over your 7 and through the moonroof into the back seat. Especially those who do not have the deflector. When cleaning your 7 be sure to clean the back seat, whether cloth or leather. People sitting on the grit will get their clothes dirty and rub it into the seat fabric.

I noticed the harmonic effect as well. Ive had it before with other cars but not nearly as bad as the CX-7. Just gives me a reason to open the sunroof.

It's probably the longer passenger compartment along with the aerodynamics of the car. There's a lot of dead air space in there behind the driver.
