has anyone had lasik eye surgery

my dad did it a few months ago.....he got the "lifetime warranty" so if his eyes get worse than 20/20, he can go back and get them done again for free.....

also....they told him to keep his eyes extra moist for the first few weeks.....he was complaining about being blurry the first few days when he woke up in the morning, just add some saline solution and you'll be good to go.

cost me $1500 per eye.. with the lifetime acuity plan, so i can go back for enhancements if ever needed..

i am also 20/15 .. and my eyes were TERRIBLE.. 20/20 like immediately, and 20/15 overnight.. can't beat it.

i would definately do it again. i went to www.lasikplus.com .. i've got coupons for $100 off if anyone is interested.. they expire in nov or feb though.. (i have different coupons)..

I had astigmatism, but I think it depends on how bad it is, they will examine your eyes before they know if you are a candidate for lasik, good luck

Is there any age restriction? Better to do it when eye sight has "settled?"

Can those with astigmatism get it?

man you might have to check into getting lasik if your eyes are that bad, believe me it is worth it!

It's great. I can't remember what glasses or contacts felt like.

Obviously do research. I went to supposedly the best place in Atlanta and I had 1 follow-up revision only a few months after on both eyes (actually had to wear revised glasses prescription to drive for a couple months).... and then I had to have ANOTHER revision on my right eye 6 months later. Now I see better than 20/20 in both eyes. (It's weird I have slightly better distance in my right, and slightly better reading in my left, but the brain-- what's left of it, takes over and I don't notice it.)

I think my doctor was just being conservative because it's bad to over-correct, and I'm grateful for that, but s***.... it took them almost 9 months to get it perfect. They didn't charge me for the extra 2 surgeries but the whole thing wasn't cheap to begin with. My eyesight was really really terrible to begin with though. It's weird being able to read the clock from a foot away at night.

hey while we're on the subject - those of you who got the surgery - what power were your contacts at when you got the surgery? I'm at -11 and I asked the doctor about surgery. He said I hadn't passed the threshold of correcting to 20/20, but I'm just curious where you guys were at?

Yep, don't noticed it here either unless I close one or the other eye and think about it...

Wow, Lord Zath I was at -7.50 and -8.50 in contacts and I thought I was almost blind. -11.00 is really really bad and just at the upper threshold of Lasik now. I think -10 was about the limit according to my doctor. Still--- being brought way down and being able to wear thin glasses while driving could be almost worth it if your doctor will do it. Problem is... once you can see 20/20 with glasses you don't want to take them off-- at least that's how I was. My mother walks around half blind half the time for vanity's sake I guess.

It doesn't physically hurt-- just mainly a disconcerting feel when they put the giant suction cup around your eyeball (after they put in local anaestheia deadening drops) to steady it while they do they cut the flap and do the zapping. (And a slight waffle of burning flesh by that laser.) Then you just take a sleeping pill and take a nap while it heals to near perfection.

My dad, my aunt, and my friend all had lasik done and they have had it done for about 2 years. All of them are happy as hell and they have no vision problems anymore. All 3 of them spent more than 2k though just because they didn't want to get stuck with a doctor that wasn't very experienced. They all said it was well worth the price and as soon as I reach 30 or a little later, I'll probably invest in doing it as well.

Yeah it's really bad. On the bright side, I don't need a magnifying glass to read fine print (eek2).

Technology's getting better every year, and my doctor told me that as long as my eyes are correcteable via contacts/glasses to 20/20, then laser surgery can correct me as well. He also said that some people have less material to work with, so I don't think there is a universal limit - probably just a generally agreed upon level. Just thought I'd see (no pun intended).

So that said, who can beat -11?
