Hey Phen and fellow music-makers! Dan here.
I've been playing more drums than guitar lately, but I'm playing both roles (not simultaneously

) in support of a little group at our temple. Yeah, one of the strangest gigs I've had so far.
I've got a red PRS Santana SE model as my primary axe, a black Ovation Applause and... wait for it.... an Ibanez Jem 777 DY (not the 7 string, but the Desert Yellow w/ disappearing pyramid inlay & monkey grip). Looks just like this one:
Just using a small Roland Cube 30 with a stand and dual foot switches these days. It doubles as my monitor and I just mic it if I need to. BOSS chromatic tuner foot pedal is it for me, I don't use any other pedals anymore.
Music-wise, I
love Rush and Dream Theater, RATM, Zep, SRV and most blues/rock, some Alt/Punk bands and a broad mix of old school hip-hop, classic rock/metal, merengue (WHAT?!?) and other NON-country genres.
For some reason my latest obsession has been a little-known punk group out of Wyoming, "Teenage Bottlerocket". Previous iteration of the band was "The Lillingtons". Very few hits from these guys, but I now know and like almost every song they ever did. Here's a quick sampling:
Despite the extreme simplicity of composition and soloing, I just can't get enough of the incredible speed of the down-picking required in these songs (not strummed!) Also note the drummer is playing the hi-hat sixteenth notes SINGLE handed (well, cut time eighth notes, but who's counting?).
