Guitarists?

i'll give radiohead the "best of the worst" award... i can deal with their music if somebody else is playing it, but it would never be on my ipod. just not my stylee

i mean, my roots stem from a melodic death metal band in which i played guitar... so i can listen to the likes of suicide silence, the acacia strain, august burns red, and all types of metal variants (i love metal-style guitar) to the pop-punk i grew up on (saves the day, blink & even modern stuff like four year strong) to some-what "emo" (taking back sunday/all time low) to alternative (REM/Weezer/foo fighters) to the classics (acdc/queen/beatles/doors/aerosmith/zeppelin/pearl jam, the list goes on) to reggae (i go to the caribbean every year, so island music is native to me) so bob and damian marley to REAL hip-hop... NAS is my favorite, hands down.

definitely open minded, i just can't stand generic rock andor annoying vocalists... also ambient/lack of a structure s*** in a song...

eww nuff said IMO

Straplocks.

I originally had a pair of Dirmarzio straplocks on my Kramer. I didn't like them because a good portion of strap stayed on your guitar and it included a plastic clip. This clip stays with the guitar, goes in the case, and ended up chipping my custom paint job. I've seen other guitars lose paint to these things too.

I scrapped them and went with the Dunlop design. Dunlop uses a design similar to bit on a socket wrench. The key is in the actual strap post and the unit you attach to the strap of your choice (you can use any strap unlike Dimarzio) I have this on 3 guitars and I've had no trouble for the last 3-4 years I've been using them. I buy the posts for the guitars and then my strap fits them all.

I've got the Dunlops on my Dime, my LP, and I think that's it for now. I'm planning to order a Carvin when I get to China, so that will come with them too.

Cam, I think those are the Schaller brand. I have Dunlop dual design's on all my basses. I play my basses really high up on my torso so if anyone needed to borrow my bass in a pinch at a live show they can just put their own strap on it. And I like that you can recess the Dunlop style into the body. I did that with my Warmoth I built.

School'd. I do have the Schaller brand, my bass player uses something similar to the Dunlop design. I don't like how his dunlop-style uses a tiny ball joint insert into the strap post. I like my Schaller post-securing, design. That's why I bought those over the Dunlop brand. I bought 3 sets at once and it's been awhile, forgive my foggy brain

No worries, I just wanted to clarify for ya. I'm the opposite, I didn't like the Schaller kind so I've been using the Dunlops without an issue for about 15 years now. But then again, I'm sure your bassist moves around A LOT more than me on stage. haha

Yeah, the Steve Vai JEMs come that way. I have Floyd rose Trems on about 5 guitars and love them. They require much more work and patience, but it's worth it for me. I had the Dimazrzio PAF Pro in my Ibaznez, pretty good neck pickup. I also put the Dimarzio Super3 in the bridge. Sorry to hear about the patina

Yeah, the work and patience thing got to me after years of pulling out my hair. I couldn't wait to get a guitar with a solid, non-tremolo bridge. Especially for big (string) bends, the ease of not having to re-setup for heavier gauge strings, drop and alternate tunings (even on the fly, yay!) and dealing with those f'n springs and the locking nut!

What's up Dan! I didn't know you had all that cool gear! Neat stuff.

YO! Same here!
You've got quite a collection of quality gear!
I was messing around on a electronic drum set last night. It was old and crappy, but its fun to experiment with all the various options you can trigger. Also much more volume friendly then my acoustic set.

Hey, have a great trip!

I play my basses really high up on my torso ...

Real bass players have to! Only the pick-wielding weenies play with it down at the knees! No offense to any bass pickers, but I think a bass should only be played with fingers, sue me.

My cousin plays bass with a pick, around his knees and uses electrical tape as straplocks. We no longer speak. haha

sorry guitarists, I keep thread jacking this with bass talk. Back on topic;

If you guys could only use ONE of your guitars for the rest of your career, which would it be. You can pick one you currently own and a dream guitar. Ready, go.

I've got little to contribute to the dream guitar wishlist. It's been so long since I was an active "gearhead".
I can say I love the PRS and wish I could afford a better one than my korean version. (Signature series would be nice)
Amps, however, I can say I've always wanted a Mesa Boogie Rectifier head, Dual or Triple to go with a nice stack.
I wouldn't mind this one:
