Guages

i say boost, a/f (even though it is narrowband when you are lean it will go all red. believe me) and a egt/pryometer....... oil pressure is important that is why i need another guage but i have lasted for 2 yrs w/o that guage.

my autometers work great. all except for the a/f guage since it is a narrow band. think about this. most competors use autometers. they cant be that bad. i have the autometer phantom boost,volt,a/f,pryometer and nx press. plus my tach. i have not had problems with any of these guages. they are well worth the money imho. btw i have a greddy ebc that show boost pressure and it reads exactly what my autometer guage reads. so i know they are correct
i say get the autometers and get ur turbo on now
rob
awesome, thanks. I am pretty sure I will get the autometers. The only problem with getting the turbo on now is that the kit probably wont be ready until may 1. Plus my funds are a little short......donate?

I still think the forums should donate some for my birthday!!

as far as boost gauges, would you guys recommend just boost gauge (0-30) or a boost/vac gauge?

is it important to have both EGT and A/F? I am having trouble finding somewhere to put a fourth gauge in my car and have it look good

I honestly have no idea yet. I am completely new to this and dont even know. its kinda frustrating me though

boost/vac is a must, the oil pressure is a good idea, but make sure its electric not mechanical. A mechanical one will flow oil into the cabin of the car. Which is bad if it springs a leak. personally i'd get a wideband, because an egt still has to have a sensor, and doesn't seem nearly as effective as wideband.

boost/vac and oil pressure are pretty much definates. My main concern is whether to go wideband, a/f, or egt.

I understand wideband is the most accurate, but it seems way too expensive to me. Also, I dont think I need that kind of accuracy if I wont be tuning on the fly. I still dont really know exactly how EGT works, but it seems to be right in the middle of these two for accuracy/price. And A/F would obviously be nice because of the price, but is least accurate. If it was accurate enough to let me know if I was running DANGEROUSLY rich or lean, I think that is all I would need

of course, i'm a genius. the best thing about the wideband isn't that you'll use it to tune ont he fly. Its that is shows you HOW rich, or HOW lean. The narrowband will show you that you're rich or lean, but not by how much.
