GT25R Real Potential and Capabilities

do u guys think that the FSZE cam is actually doing more harm than good?
also, at what point should one start making custom made cams with adjustable gears?

yup.. the smallest dual ball bearing turbo Garrett makes :)

that nice.. exept if i ever need to change it for soemthing similar.. then 'ill have trouble finding one if mine blows.. (poke)

i bet if i put a bigger one like a GT28R or something like that it's gonna push too much air for the same 6 PSI and will lean out the engine and blow..

when changing turbo size, i guess it's where $$$ are needed for tuning.

not necesarily, you just need to find the right place to purchase the parts, and the right people to intalled them and tuned them. it's more easy than what you really think. just do homework and look around for the best place to buy turbos, and all the accessories.. if you ever need Anything Alejo_NIN and My self Mazdaspeed2oo35 can help you out with some advices and ideas.. is not that i have a 10 sec MSP or mazda, but we have pretty good ideas and hang out with people that have bad ass Performance Shops that can helps us out.. also in getting parts if needed..

I have the NICK upgraded GT25R and it hits like a little sledge hammer.
I am running about 17PSI with the stock block and I have 113,000 miles now.
It has been ported, polished, ceramic coated and had GT28 guts stuffed inside. The manifold was ported, polished and ceramic coated.
With the 3'' GHL exhaust (among other things) it pulls so viciously that it has killed my 309 ftlb Spec clutch. Hopefully this spring I will install the new 450 ftlb clutch. I don't want to have it slip EVER :)
It has instant thrust and pulls hard all the way to redline.
I love mine.

I want to see someone take this upgrade to the max.

Well my Wife's car is about to be paid off and then mine is next. I don't ever plan on getting rid of the Speed even after I get a new car. What would be the point? I drive close to 30,000 miles a year so leasing or trade in is not really a wise option for me.
So once it is paid for I will take this Nikcy beast and put down the "supposed" 400WHP it is good for. I will have to add some fuel and a forged bottom end but after that it should be go time 20+PSI :)
I am making enough power now that I know it is beyond the normal capacity of the stock rods. I have been very fourtunate to drive so hard for such a long time at such high boost and have nary a problem (besides the defective LSD.) There are others who have had the same high PSI, big power luck as myself 505ZOOM, and Apocman to name two. I am sure there are others.
The GT25R is a damn fine little turbo that, for a little more money, can be made into a whole new beasty. It really is a great street/track turbo.

hang on a sec. your pushin 15 psi on a stock bottom end!!!!!!!!! thats freakin awesome, i wish i had the balls to do that lol

i dunno about you, but 8.3:1 seems a little low....granted it sounds like you will prolly be adding much larger amounts of boost in the future. as for me, 8.5:1cr is what i went with and i still have great low end power. regardless of the fact that i'm running open downpipe and i'm in boost at 1400 rpms and at a full boost by 1800(first)...open downpipe ftw!

anyway, if you really wanna make some power, why not go with a GT30? It would give you alot more room for improvement in the future i.e. lots of boost. And honestly, the GT30's spool up time compared to that of the GT28RS's wouldn't be that far apart....but if you really wanna get crazy, since you have a built bottom end, add a 50 wet shot of nitrous, which is really small, and you will be absolutely golden. The nitrous will help to spool the turbo up quicker, plus also cool the intake charge even more after the intercooler. Built bottom end + big turbo + nitrous + a good tune = huge amounts of reliable power if you know what you're doing. And the reliability would be in terms of the engine....the transmission and axels are another story.

Keep it up though, i'm right there with you in the never ending quest for more power.....Come spring time, i'm gonna have a new surprise for everyone...and dyno results that'll make you want to cream yourself.(nana) hehehe

Man, not to sound like a prick or anything, but I just lost all of the respect for your car that the mod list had earned for it. Paying some shop to do everything for you takes every ounce of fun out of modding a car in the first place.

Still a nice setup though, good luck with it.

Allow me to answer this..

tunning, port and polish and dynos and transmission work was done by a shop, ovbiously

but forged and everything else was done by me and him...

that's all i got to say :P

continue..

Cool, his last post had the "pocketbook modder" sound to it so I had to comment.

i am the pocketbook modder

lol

anyways...

*sigh*

i'm thinking about boosting a geo metro, what would be the best turbo?

I kinda disagree. I have no problem paying someone to do the work...to me, I'm paying for his expertise and tools. Two important things I don't have....but I truly enjoy learning and always stick around to lend a hand.
