Greetings!

So i have yet another question! apologies for so many! however my question is would it be better to swap in a used MSP motor, or build a turbo kit? which is more beneficial i guess or are they relatively the same power/torque wise? also which would be more cost effective?

The engines are the same, except for a couple of bolt-ons which you will need for the build.

Since the engines are the same, it would be a waste of money to buy another engine when there is no need to... just go with the turbo.

Okay thanks! I ask because I was unsure of the cost of building a turbo kit with all the aftermarket parts so thank you! I saw on protegegarage.com that they sell a kit for around $3000 which I thought was stupidly expensive compared to just a simple motor swap.

If you watch the FS threads here, you can piece together a stock set up for well under $1000, I would suggest getting the eBay FMIC and running that as well if you are on a budget.

Taco, I have also been thinking the same thing. I Want to get all the supplies ready to turbo for next summer

I wish you luck and i have a feeling we will be communicating a lot in the near future haha :D

but also check craigslist for a totaled MSP or something cheap so you could pick it up and part it out, maybe even end up making some money off of it!

That is when I was planning on doing mine as well! (Considering my P5 is my DD and school grants no time for anything major to change haha). I wish you luck as well, and I think we will communicate much haha! (For positive news or negative :P )

That isnt a bad idea actually either, hmm I have plenty of time to ponder on some of these things haha but no better time to start finding stuff than the present!

P.S. I certainly hope that both our boosting attempts go smoothly haha :)

So today my passenger side low beam bulb went out sometime in the morning and I will need to replace it sooner than later, but it got me thinking, maybe its time to swap to HID's since im replacing one bulb, i could just replace them all at once with HID's?

if you want HIDs i would say now is the time to get them... at least from ddmtuning.com which is a really good website i have got mine from and many other people. lifetime warranty on ballasts and bulbs too.

if not a low beam bulb is only about $4-$8 at any autopart store... just for a generic one, i used to have a problem with my subs and always surged and blew out my low beams i went through 10 pairs maybe before i got HIDs and the problem went away, they run less energy after you initially turn them on

Hmm...since you said your subs would surge your lows, and i plan on upgrading from my 8" tube to 2 10"s in the future, maybe there is a double reason for getting HID's now (besides having better visibility and longevity of the lights). I also noticed that I have one seemingly replaced high beam light on the same side (passenger), it appears whiteish blue and is much brighter than the other high beam.

Replaced the low beam last night, and realized how much of a PITA the passenger side low bulb is to get out. Also noticed that the reason I have a blue high beam is due to the bulb being tinted blue for some reason (possibly aftermarket but seemed like a normal 9005 bulb). Also looked at some HID's in town and realized that DDM sells them for much cheaper and I plan on getting those soon and will post pics when they are installed!

I came across the Gram Lights 57 Ultimate SC rims today, I thought they would look rather striking on my Laser Blue P5, however I am not smart with rim sizes and offsets and what not so with the provided spec sheet from Rays, would they fit?

Gave the car a nice bath yesterday and also dipped the mirror covers, fuel door, and front/rear Mazda badges!

Currently waiting on my DDM HID's to come in and I am excited to get them and install them!

So the first snow storm hit, and hit hard. I was not expecting it as this morning was rather calm and clear so my winter tires were not on. Got stuck going up a hill but tried a different one and slugged on home. I feel rather dumb and embarassed because I ended up riding the clutch a bit and caused the car to smell of what i assumed was clutch pad burning..

3 of the 4 winter Michelins are on now, but the left rear does not want to sit flush with the rotor at all, unlike the others. Nothing is blocking it or anything, so I may have to run one different tire than the rest (which also has non factory rim on it so it will look a bit off).

Finally doing work on getting the 3k HID's into my fogs. Low beam 6k's have been in for a while, and will post pics of them later when they are all put in.

good luck on the fogs if you need help pm me
for my ddm kit i had to drill out about half inch to 3/4 inch in the back of the fog housing (black metal cup thing) thats the part i drilled out it was so the wires could be fed directly out the back, there wasn't enough clearance to run them the stock way through the premade wire gap

.........and peel off your damn gas cap plastidip! too much man too much! but lookin good! :-)

Yeah I realized that and so I drilled out a seperate hole and got everything to fit nice and snug. Now I just need to find a place for the ballast haha :p.

But the problem now is the fog's wont light up. I sent you a PM with the specifics.
