GP Light Weight Protege pulleys

so is the one piece going to give us any problems with out the harmonic balancer?? this is the only car i have and i don't need to throw a bearing or anything else.

Agreed. I was all over this when it had a harmonic balancer, but I intend to keep this car for quite a long time. Not sure I can afford the risk.

^ If it's any reassurance, I've been running the UR underdrive crank pulley, which doesn't have a harmonic balancer, for nearly 5 yrs now and I'm also boosted. I doubt that there will be any issues.

The FS dampners aren't that large compared to others ... if everything else is in good condition, you'll be fine.
If anything else is out of balance, it's supposed to take up the slack.

Even on a well balanced stock motor, something will be out.
You may just wear out crank bearings faster (ie - 100K instead of 200K+)

A Harmonic Aluminum pulley would be nice, but I know I wouldn't pay in excess of $300 for it.

Why is everyone pissed about this? No after market crank pulley has this balancer and the damn motor is internally balanced anyways. But, I dont care, I already have mine.

i dont know, people just talkin down on the whole thing and thats the word i came up with lol

I guess most people like the idea of having that little bit extra security on the motor even though its hard to prove that it will really do any damage. (enguard)

I'm still getting one though....(first)

Being harmonically balanced was all talked up earlier in the thread ... some people got hung up on that.
They were talked into it, and then told that it's not available ... probably confused a few people.

My assembly was balanced together ... Fidanza, UR Pulley, clutch, and all; I'm safe.
I was interested in replacing the UR on the other car w/a full size, though ... need more A/C in traffic here.

No downtalking here. I just already have an aluminum crank pulley. Yes it is underdrive. No, have had no issues with it for several years. There's just no reason to jack with from my standpoint. I'm OK with underdriven, AC & stereo OK with it too so there ya go. I'll use that cash towards the radiator cover, res caps & battery tiedown being discussed in the other thread. Any pics of the finished PS pulleys yet?

^ those things would not have made a difference to the balancing even if done seperate. The counterweights are done internally on the crankshaft. The UR pulley does not have a harmonic "dampener". Seems the term harmonic "balancer" is what is confusing some.

No confusion here. UR is same as what is fixing to be sold by Brach EXCEPT that the Brach motorsports one is NOT underdriven, just lightened.

Ok guys. The light weight crank pulley will be stock size and $109 shipped in the US and $129 shipped USPS Global Express for Canada.
I need to do this so that I have tracking and so it gets to you canucks faster.
It will take 2-2.5 weeks from today until they ship. I am only going to run 20 of them. So paypal is open and the first post updated.

^ I'm sorry but I'd rather pay more for express shipping. I still haven't even gotten my ALT pulley and it's been now over a month since it was shipped.

Thank you so much. I can't agree more. It is very nerve racking for me to hear that many Canucks still have not gotten their parts. So I will be taking your advice and going USPS Global Express. I shipped an empty envolope a few weeks back with just a copy a customers paypal reciept and it was like $25 to ship it.
I just can't afford to have people now getting their parts in a reasonable amount of time.

The problem seems to be at the border for the previous batches since it took 30 days to get something from NC to me. I thought the guy had never sent the item since he was a noobie to the forums.
I still wouldn't mind Priority over Express since it only takes an extra few days to get here and it has all the advantages of Express (tracking, etc.).
Regardless, it's Brach's choice and I respect the reasons for making that choice.
Mine (crank) is already paid for so I obviously don't care THAT much, just figured I'd put it out there that there is a 2nd option :)

Damn, I want one, but I may not even have a protege if insurance doesn't repair me...
No point in buying a part for a car I may not have.

These will be sold again later right?
