Gotta say it.

So I joined a GTI forum since the car was on my radar for after basic and all alongside the MS3.

Well, I gotta say that the MS3 crowd of owners at least on this forum have dealt a heavy blow to the GTI and its cultish following. I posted on that site a simple hey this is me im doing the military thing and i like the ms3 and the gti. What i want to know is what about the gti do you all like and what dont you, what have you had problems with.

Well my only response to that post was pointless and rude. So apparently GTI owners are better than the average bear. yeah whatever

Anyways thanks for being a better community with a better car lol, I think I have made my decision completly and doubt I'll even test drive a GTI now, a nice car with pricks for owners isnt something I want to get into.

hehehe I also owned some VWs, I am a Mazda fan now(actually for 6 years now)

Not only that but the board is filled with such and such is borken on my GTI after a week of ownership, and about how bad dealership work/relations is. (theres even one guy that had his oil heater duct taped to his oil pan by the dealership). So far I have heard VERY little on this forum about things going bad on the MS3 save for a small batch of turbos motor mounts and some rattles.

I dont know man....my 1st post or new thread on here got no love...
I posted pic's and some guys said "thanks for showing us what a stock MS3 looks like" what a dirt bag!!!...
u know what, it was when I posted pic of my car.
not the 1st thread....but I just read the 1st thread & someone else said I got the worst welcome....oh well

but it's gotten a little bitter.

Yea there are a few pple on here that seem to just patrol for oppertunities to flame and start sh*t. I catch it from pple sometime for posting in the other sections even though i don't own a 3 or a protege. I'm ASE certified auto technician and i like to help people out no matter what they drive.

I joined VW Vortex several months before I bought my MS3. I didn't think the MkV forum was all that bad; what bothered me were all the reports of problems and incompetent dealers. It also didn't help that VWoA made it nearly impossible to find a GTI w/o a sunroof. Needless to say, I don't regret passing on the GTI; the MS3 will provide more than enough giggles for a year or so...

Although there are probably a few a-holes, there are a lot of good folks on this forum who really like to help. I've received a TON of really helpful tips.

Hehe that's funny I got rid of my Jettas after their interior just started to come undone and breaking plastic parts, oh and oil consumption problems that I was told was normal!!!

no one on here has been rude to any of us non MS3 owners yet. I am a huge car enthusiast and love these little cars the GTI as well. So I joined the forum (both this one and the other) to learn about both cars from the owners.
I also learned a little about the owners in the process. The GTI not only seemed to have a lousy forum community consisting of flammers and snobs but the car itself seemed to have nothing but problems still high praise from the owners saying its a great car all the A/C, fraying seatbelts and cloth interior, the rattles, and other gremlins that seem to live in a lot of the VWs, dont bother you after time and apparently the stupid dealerships dont bother them either.
GTI=fail IMO. MS3FTW

Maybe its just a FL thing but every VW i get into that has some milage on it smells like pencil shavings? I don't know where that came from lol.

A few.... LOL!!! This forum is teaming with them! And the "other" forum, sheesh......

Seriously though, I joined VW vortex and had no problems over there. You will always have your "I know everything" and "holier than thou" people on any forum. I can say of any vehicle forum I've ever been on (and that's alot) I have NEVER seen as much drama as I have seen with these cars :) Anyway, welcome and good luck with your new MS3.

P.S. I traded a 2007 VW GTI 4 door in for this car. VERY happy with my decision. Not that the Vdubs is a bad car (very nice actually), the MS3 just suits me better. Also leaps and bounds ahead of VW in the performance category.

i too came from a vw. an R32. (had a wolfsburg jetta 1.8T before that).

the mazda may have a little less refinement than the VW's. but you get enough refinement and plenty more performance. the MS3 is quite an incredible performance car. never have i taken corners so fast with a FWD car.

hell, the R32 even feels somewhat sloppy around corners compared to the MS3 and that says a lot.

Wow thats a statement! I think my MP3 is sold so now I have to deside what to get and I have enough $ to get r32 VW and I am torn. I know the Speed3 is super fast but R32 is fast enough. I am torn

i was also in the market for a VW. they have a level of build that i like, just aesthetically pleasing (4th gen particularly, interiors are good looking).

but then i found out about the MS3 and for the price, i'm getting about the same thing, with ~55 extra horsepower. hehe.

i still envy VW's for being able to be modded so slick and cleanly. i've yet to see anyone try and tackle an MS3 with a little euro touch (good drop, try to fit some wheels with lip under there), i might have to be the guinea pig on that.
