Got to see the new CX5 today - SHOULD HAVE WAITED...but I will NEVER BUY MAZDA AGAIN.

Not jut Honda. Subaru is the best in this.
Every car has rattles. Turn on the music and you won't hear it.
I personally, like to have gadgets and I like to have the latest, but in my car, I don't care about voice commands, text messages and such.
I have replaced the radio, with a 7" Kenwood nav unit(DNX9990HD), which I have picked up used for $300(!), replaced the speakers for $160(4 x components, 2 x 3.5" in dash), picked up two broken Polk Audio amps and I have repaired them myself for $40 each.
I have also picked up a brand new 10" JL Audio shallow sub for $200 and made my own sub(very simple) and for what I need this setup works very well.
I'm installing a dash cam, soon I will pick up an Escort Max radar detector, install an inverter, lower the car, install 20" wheels and I will be very satisfied with my car.
All this, is most likely cheaper, than what you will be loosing, by getting another car.

Dude your whining about the infotainment system has been taken to another level, just sell the damn car and be rid of it. If something bothered me so much I would have got rid of it right away.

Our 2013 CX-5 purchased in 2012 has been FLAWLESS! was a huge reason why I bought the 6. I'm sure recall ridden Honda or Ford will welcome you back with open arms, keep that wallet open :)

Dude, i am not doing anything others on this board hasn't. Like I said, again. Mazda Customer Service sucks, i like the F*#* suv, but I am in sales and in my F*** car all day.

I won't buy Ford and I just mentioned Honda. If someone had a knife to my throat and said you need to pick a car now, with what I know, it would not be Mazda.

Did you know that many people that left Toyota over the years because of the stuck gas pedal have come back to Toyota. They are number one for customer service. I had a Camry and had an issue with the trans. I got a free loaner and it was fixed by a traveling engineer tech/mechanic to my satisfaction. They called me every so often to see how it was running and If I need anything else. Thats Customer Service. Some will disagree but that's my story.

PS I also got an extended warranty too for free for my inconvenience. Do you think Mazda would do that, think not in a million.

My cx-5 has performed flawlessly so far, no rattles, bluetooth works well, i can stream music through my android samsung phone with no issues, usb works fine, and i enjoy my RDS radio text. This car has been amazing so far, im getting 7.2km/100 average, handling is superb, looks great....what else can i say? I just upgraded my speakers to improve my sound quality. I really feel like my money was well spent buying this vehicle.
Im totally amazed that someone would judge a car solely on its entertainment systems features not working. (freak)

The best thing that this blog has taught me is that I should look before I leap. Research, research, research. Sit in the car for quite a while to test the seats, play with the infotainment, touch all the bells and whistles, listen to the stereo quality, the road noise, my line-of-sight in the vehicle, do everything that I need to to ensure that what I choose is the best choice for me. I keep cars for 10 years, and I really don't want any regret with such an expensive purchase. Heck, I research the tar out of anything that costs more than $50. Researching a car has a completely elevated level of importance for me.

Personally, I would look into spending a few hundred dollars on a real smartphone, not a terrible iPhone...it MIGHT just fix all your problems, and save you from buying a new car...

You can always sell your iPhone...I would suggest either the Motorola line of Android Phones (built in TX, USA, btw...) or that LG G3 or whatever it is called. Also seriously consider a Windows Phone...you can buy a starter windows phone like the Lumia 635 for as little as $50 to test it out...if you can get the texting or email stuff working you might realize Apple is more to blame than Mazda...

Learning and using a new phone seems a hell of a lot easier than going through the process of selling and buying a new car...and if it doesn't work, there are always 30 day returns on most phones...

In my country, we don't have the functionality of the text messaging in the infotainment system. My iPhone is always connected automatically without any issue, Bluetooth music works fine, IPod or USB music files resume playback where it just left off, TomTom Navi isn't so user friendly but it still doing its job. To me this infotainment system is decent and sounds great, the only thing I would like to ask for more is the centre console Commander Switch, why only the EU owner have it and we don't? Anyway I'm still happy with this car, it is fun to drive and it looks cool.

Personally, as a foreigner moving from a country where even touching the cell phone while seating in the driver seat is illegal, i dont't feel any of this a big problem.
Rather than something more obvious. Having bluetooth and using it with bluetooth is enough for me. But sure, it matters the place i live in and the laws are different. (doh)

Speaking of smartphones, what would be the pros of an android over an iphone in this case?

I can't speak for everybody, but although I was having a lot of problems getting the text message feature to play nice between my ATT Galaxy S4 and CX-5 when I first got them, a recent update to my phone bringing it to Kitkat 4.4.4 seems to have resolved the issue. I updated several months ago, and even though I keep expecting the text message feature to stop working again it continues to work as advertised, even with hundreds of saved text messages on my phone and picture messages, which are supposedly two things that can cause it to screw up.

The phone call and streaming bluetooth portion have always worked for me so that has never been an issue.

thanks. Is the Lollipop out for the S4 yet?

AGAIN,,,,again..I am not saying the car is bad, the Mazda CS is bad...again last time. CS is bad not the car

Very true, I agree!

No not yet, I think it's supposed to come out in the next couple of months, and for all I know it will mess up the text messaging feature once again, lol.

I have never tried, but while driving, it will let you view/hear the text message?

If you're under about 5mph you can read the text message on the screen, anything over that and it won't show you the message but it will read it aloud to you. It also gives you like 6 or 7 precanned messages you can reply with using the infotainment system.

Keep in mind that no vehicle, no matter what the cost or brand, is and will be forever free of some annoying issues. These forums tend to attract a fair share of vociferous OCD'ers whose experience doesn't match most people.

My SO drives an 11 year old Volvo that is shaking apart. It makes more noises than a pinball machine, and yet she doesn't notice. The bumper literally fell off a few weeks ago.

My parents have a year old Acura that cost twice what a loaded CX-5 does and it's had 3 actual NTSB recalls in 15 months for things like improperly bolted together suspension, seatbelt issues and most recently reflective material coming apart in the headlights. It has a lot of random rattles and clunks and a poorly tuned ride. They will probably get rid of it soon.

One could probably see what issues there will be by looking at the Mazda 3. IIRC the iPhone SMS piece doesn't work on any of the other newer systems either.

The only main issue I've had is after I upgraded my phone from wp8 to wp8.1, now if I am on the phone before i start my car, the car will constantly switch between handset and vehicle until I hang up. Never happens if I initiate a phone call when the vehicle is already running. Never happened before wp8.1 upgrade also. Happens infrequently sso I haven't bothered to waste three hours at a dealership to try an update that may or may not work. Other than that everything works. I can speak text replies etc...

The fact is people are injured or even killed all the time because some fool is more concerned with their phone or technology system than with driving.

....or drinking something. That is why, we don't have the commander control in there. Americans need to drink and eat while driving.

Mazda CS

AGAIN,,,,again..I am not saying the car is bad, the Mazda CS is bad...again last time. CS is bad not the car

So you want Mazda to give you a loaner for free because you can't get TEXT to work?! For a life threatening issue like a gas pedal I would expect Toyota to give you one. Don't worry, the I-CAR will be out soon.
