Mazda CX5 in general - and have driven mine and 3 others - all the same. bad when it comes to brake pedal travel. Its just simply : soft.
After some R&D and speaking to someone in JP what worked for me:
Serious bleed with ABS.
Good quality DOT 4 like Bosch/Motul/Typ 200.
Upgraded s/steel brake hoses - Goodridge.
Yellowstuff brake pads and high quality EBS rotors.
Now - we're talking...
