Goodbye Orange MSP

Yea those gold rims are nasty. I like the blue with the silver or the black. I didn't mind the pink logo that much but I do see what your saying there....I haven't dirven the STI yet so we shall see.

How do you see the EVO and STI changing in 2 or 3 years? Will they still be around?

well, for me honestly my preference for the EVO is by such an incredibly small margin that it's not funny. It's nearly a tossup for me between the EVO and the STI. For me personally it came down to the fact that the EVO fit me much better......I'm 6'8" and 250lbs and the EVO has more headroom and the seats fit me really nicely. Plus I like the looks of the EVO better. Plus I've been lusting for an EVO for a REALLY long time ever since Jackie Chan started tossing them around in his movies in the early 90's.....I've always wanted one. I personally didn't find the ride that harsh.......at least not compared to my MSP. I had really no complaints about the STI at all except those horrible gold rims and the hot-pink STI logo.....I'd still kill to have either really.
Yeah ... what's up with the pink STi logos?

damn, everyone is hating the EVO.. but i agree with all of you.. i have an EVO IV in the philippines...now thats all japan spec... much better than the US version. way better...but i too had the option to buy an EVO. but think about it i had a pontiac WS6..push the car with 450 hp..untouchable..way fast..for 28k and they are selling that EVO with a 10k mark up..crazy... now i wanted to be practical and different thats why i bought the MSP..now with the money i have left im turning or try turning this car into an EVO or STI eater...this car has potentail and very light..

guys, if he put a substantial amount down on the MSP or its paid off or if he put money down on the Evo there's nothing saying his payment had to go up. you guys are all looking at it from a finance this much $______ point and not realizing that there are other factors

The funny thing is you can buy a used LS-1 Camaro or Firebird for about 10k less than a new EVO that will run LOW 13's all day long with a much higher trap speed.

Personally the C4 generation is my Vette of choice. I can't get over the copy-cat NSX styling on the new C5 corvette. To me the C4 generation looks tougher, meaner, and is just about comprable in performance #'s.

Another car to watch out for in 2004 will be the Pontiac GTO 350HP and 365 ft. lbs. torque. AWESOME V8 power....gotta love it...although functionally I will take my MSP any day especially with me being a new dad in about 2 weeks.

The LAG is that bad??
I dont see how the brake would be mushy ... explain to me ... they had BREMO's.
I personally have not yet test drove the car so I'm just curious

The Lag is very very noticable... The car feels like its being held back by rubber bands untill it hits 4-4.5 RPMS and just explodes. In a comparision between the STi and Evo from Car and Driver they stated, "Because we waited forever for the turbo boost to come on during our 30 to 50 mph top gear acceleration test, It was a bog slow 11.7 seconds." The STi in that comparision did the same test in 10.9 seconds. In an eariler mag they tested the MSP and Got 9.9 seconds in the same 30 to 50 MPH test (Im not saying the MSP is better or faster than the Evo just using it for comparision so dont flip out everybody) The Evo has some of the best braking distances and thats not what Im critizing its the way they feel when you hit them. You have to mash them down pretty hard to get a good feeling from them, stopping wise. When you hit on some brakes it feels real soild and as soon as you touch them your stopping hard, with the Evo you have to press the pedal down a good amount to really dig into the brakes. Thats just how I felt

I've test drove the Evo twice and agree with the comments that FBI14 stated, but its still a pretty kick ass ride...

I was under the impression that the Evo is a limited edition car or atleast limited to so many units

Pass the crack pipe.

not exactly low 13's bone stock.

I have a friend that ran a 12.99 in his bone stock 2001 Z28 SS. I saw it with my own eyes, and he consitently pulls 13.0x's. So it is possible, whether you believe me or not. In high school I had a 96 Z28 SS (LT1 motor), that I ran a 13.8 when it was bone stock. The LS1 is a much better motor and will run very low 13's stock.

whoppie ding dong. IF all I cared about was a straight line....yeah,
I wouldn't be driving a 4 banger 20k protege would I?

Seriously.. the 1320 is over-rated. hmmmm...twist roads, or straight line??? rally vs 1/4 mile....hmmmm

are we seriously going to start talking about camaro's and s*** now in a Mazdaspeed section?

On a side note...since we're completley off topic anyways....I have a new subie dealer here. Now all i need is some $$$

I prefer the styling of the evo to the STI. As far as I know though the evo is not in canada (heard about one being in vancouver but not where I'm from). The STI does have that adjustable center differential which is pretty killer from an engineering point of view. I dunno... I'd definately have to test drive them first :p
