goodbye mp3 RIP.

were u using your stock mp3 ecu or a p5 ecu? if you had advanced timing from the mp3 ecu mabye it caused your engine to detonate, blowing things up... just a thought

it was the stock ecu. and its really not up to me wther or not i get to keep the car it my dads decision he bought me the car so he can do with it what he wants, wich sucks!

wtf!! so you're going to replace the engine and sell the car??? why???? it'll be fixed right??

dat dont make no damn sence!!!!!!!

its not that i dont want to keep it but its my dads car basically and he hated the fact that iturboed it in the first place and says that if he gets a new engine for it he wont let me ruin another car so either i keep it stock (wich i cant do) or he sells it and helps me buy a new car.

would you be interested in selling the rims, and I could just give you my stock p5 ones, they are powdercoated gunmetal, they have about 80%tread left on them with sumitomo tires.

Flyin' Protege did say on thier dyno page that using the stock mp3 ecu and running even something small like 5 psi or less would induce ping/knock in the higher rpm bands.

"The MP3 ECU did cause some pinging on the street with the A/C in fifth gear, 3000 rpm but was fine on the dyno. This is with 91 octane fuel.

So what's the conclusion? Well, the MP3 has more power potential when turbocharged but the timing has to be backed out a little."

over a period of time, I could see where the ping/knock would damage the engine slowly over time.

i ran about 9 to 10 psi on 93 octane for about three or four months before blowing it all apart at the track. i would say most of the damage I did was done prior to my run that day.

FP recommended a MP3 use only 5 PSi and colder plugs.

I run 7 PSI, but I also have a wideband to watch the A/F and I only use 94 octane.

Kyle, I am sorry to hear that. you do know though, that there are still two mazdaspeeds available in AZ.
One blue, and one titanium.(mp3blue) (msptitani

yeah i know but i think that i am going to stay away from boosted mazda prtotege for now at least.

today i found out that all of my internals were ruined in my mp3, still havent checked out my bottom end but pretty much i need a new motor wich i am going to get its $3,500. it'll be going in within the next two weeks so if any one wants to buy a mp3 with 0 miles on it with stock powder coated rims (gold), exhaust, eibach springs, act clutch, b&m short throw and a carbon fiber hood let me know i am asking $12,000 the mp3 deck is gone and the sub in the back is gone but all of the kenwood speakers are still in. oh yeah and my flyin protege turbo kit is for sale as well $2,000 obo comes with the blitz super sound blowoff.

Why not go to a junk yard and get a P5 or 3rd gen protege engine...would be cheaper than 3500

This is the first I've heard of this.

What modifications did you make to the kit exactly? The 3" downpipe and the Blitz I know about. Anything else?

Were all the parts to the kit installed and functioning, such as the fuel pump and the O2 voltage clamp? What was your fuel pressure at full boost?

Can you describe the failure? What happened exactly?

Keith

junkyard engine cost me 700 bucks :D had less than 19,000 miles on it.

i dont fully undrstand it my self i have never touched the boost setting and the only other performance i had done to my car was the exhaust and blow off thats it. basically all of my pistons were detroyed and im not talkin mild the third one was literally coming apart, and they havent even taken the engine apart yet so there could be more damage. car doent run anymore when you try starting it a bunch of smoke pores out. i have no clue as to what has happened they are sending a mazda rep out to look at the car and determine wether or not they will pick up the cost of the engine replacement. keeping my fingers crossed. i am solely a honda man again i will never trust another company with forced induction.

Did you ever hear any knock?
