Good Riddance CX-9!

:
2008 CX-9 GT AWD NAVI MOON CLASS 3 HIITCH FACTORY 20'S
Well folks, I never thought it would come to me dissing my CX-9 but here I am. I will be unloading this P.O.S. as soon as possible to another sucker.

I purchased the vehicle about one year ago, under warranty luckily, and over the time period I have put more than $4,000 into the vehicle. Fortunately Mazda Inc. has been the majority contributor, meaning warranty cover ed 75 percent of the repair costs.

First to go, after 32,000 miles, were two wheel bearings, front tie rod ends and alignment. Next to go was the AWD drive shaft mid-section and bearing. This is after a mere 39,000 miles. The drive shaft and bearing goes! And now after only 46,000 miles, I have water in my A/C vent system and fan housings, both front and rear. I haven't had the Mazda service complete any troubleshooting or repairs for the water problem because it seemed to fix itself. Likely a plugged drain hose in the condensate pans of the evaporator sections. Whatever it is I could care less because I am unloading this vehicle to some dealer as soon as I can. And it won't be a Mazda dealer.

Over the last year I have visited a repair service center a half dozen times for various repairs and this water issue is the last time I will ever have to deal with Mazda again. I guess I bought a used lemon. Regardless, I will never recommend this vehicle to anyone no matter what. I don't know how this vehicle has won so many awards as advertised by Mazda.

I am so fortunate to have bought this vehicle used because to have paid $50,000 for this junk and have had to endure such dismal performance and reliability, I would have lost it by now and ended up in the news for the wrong reason!

Good riddance Mazda!

if you bought it used, likely the original ower beat this piss out of it. or, it had those issues and thats why the original owner got rid of it. either way, its not reasonable to lable a car a "Lemon" if you bought it used. if you had bought it new off the lot with 'No' miles on it, i would be tempted to lend some credibility to your rant.

ive been to the service dealer twice. once because of the silver paint issue on the 08's and after i found the TSB i got all four trims replaced under warranty. The second i told you about DFurdas, and they fixed my HVAC issue by unclogging my AC drainage. Besides that after 23k miles we still loved our CX-9 and ended up with a 11 since we could lower our payment and get a new car. I feel your pain, but I'm guessing my dealer is a bit more understanding. Let us know what you end up replacing it with if you can. I compared this car with so many others and could never find a suitable replacement my wife liked (she drives it primarily)

DFurdas, you are clearly not thinking clearly. If one child misbehaves, do you send the entire class into timeout?

Good point helbigtw, one bad apple doesn't make the whole barrel rotten either! Buying used is sometimes the only way some folks can "move up" to a better car. Unfortunately, many previous owners do nothing to maintain their vehicles and the next buyer gets stuck with the results. This can and does happen with any used car purchase. So let the buyer beware!

yeah, I bought used, likely always will. You have to run a Carfax/Autocheck, get an ISO (Insurance Services Organization) search performed for accidents which may not show up on carfax, use common sense to determine # of owners, has this thing been registered all over the country ( not good), crawl under the car, are there oil leaks, has the car been in an accident despite the carfax/iso search. Look under the hood, are there spot welds on the right side of the structure but not the left (indicating body filler on structural parts), you really gotta dig deep to make sure your used car is good.

Yeah we considered buying used but we could find nothing that we felt comfortable with. Many people don't take care of their cars, which boggles my mind considering the expense. Luckily we got a dealer demo GT model with 5K on it and a 7k discount and -0- apr.

I can understand DFurdas frustration but for one bad experience to turn you off, from what is essentially a good brand/model, is ridiculous. A little research on his end would show that the CX-9 is a very well made and reliable car.

Just a bad break, DFurdas...some folks don't maintain their cars then trade them at the first sign of trouble. Others fail even with proper maintenance but to badmouth an entire brand because of one bad seed is a bit much. Check the comments on these boards about this vehicle's reliability record and you will see what I mean.
