good alarm

my neighbors car got broken into last night and mine might have been if it wasnt at the body shop being fixed so its time for an alarm

i dont need anything fancy, just a basic alarm with remote start and one of the keychain pager things that keeps me updated on the status of the car and s***

i'm not gonna install it myselfcause i dont have the patience to do that crap anymore, but i would like to buy it off the internet to save some cash

what brands should i look at?

well i looked around and compustar seems nice, but i cant find it for sale anywhere

i found some on ebay, but they are the canadian version, does that matter?

anyone here sell these things?

DEI alarms are really good. Compustar is not an internet dealer, so you are supposed to go to an authorized dealer and purchase it. They want them to install it too. There are ways around that though I am sure. The biggest thing is how much are you willing to spend on an alarm (before installation) and installation can run more than the alarm itself. Lastly, an alarm is only as good as it's installation. You can have a top notch one, but if crapply installed, theives will be able to get to it and disable it.

I just installed a DEI Hornet 564T http://www.directed.com/security/hornet/horn_2way.asp. I know you don't want to do the install yourself, but it wasn't too bad. I got it off of eBay for $175 shipped.
