I was going to get some parts for the car when I am pulling away from traffic the light when my car gets really loud. My first thought was that the air filter fell off the intake but it wasnt the right noise. I pull over at the fast food joint and look around in the engine to see were the noise if coming from and its under the car. I am on my way over to Mazda to get the oil changed so I have them take a look and its the weld after the first cat that gave way. Im thinking couldnt have been a worse time, just moved into the new apartment and buying things for it. However in my first experience as the owner of a car with a warranty they are going to cover it, boy do I feel lucky. I am going to call them to find out what they plan on doing as it was closing time and Mazda HQ had not gotten back to them yet.

lucklily your still under warantee, but if you weren't I'd just go with an aftrmarket midpipe or downpipe. It's not too expensive somewhere around $200+

Several people have had this problem...My exhaust snapped right in the same spot...i went with a MAM catless midpipe and AWR motor mounts...you should definately get the new front and rear motor mounts...or at least the inserts because they are the cause of this problem. There is so much play in the engine compartment cause of the mushy mounts that the engine rocks very hard in the bay...it sucks...good luck with fix!

I know I should get the inserts or something to stop the rocking but I don't want the vibration. I window welded the mounts on my old probe and it was annoying with all the vibration especially with the AC on.

I am going to ask them for the old pipe gut the cats and get it re-welded for my own cat-less mid-pipe. The reason for this is when I had the probe my brother also had one I put a test pipe/straight pipe for the cat and he gutted his. Mine was loud and his was a couple of steps quieter than mine, plus for the cost of the weld I get rid of the cats.
