WTF? How can your warranty be up at 29k? Warranty is 4 yrs./50k miles!

ummm my mods void the warranty....

i no longer have my stock exhaust even to put on if something happen to my car.

Maybe if I put my stock intake, i/c, bpv i will have my warranty again! But thats a lot of work to do... but id do it if my turbo went out or something... but lets pray to the lord it doesnt...

i love my MSP.
i love it so much that i got a second one when i crashed the first one.

these forums are BY FAR the best. Helped me with many questions.
both of my cars were/are reliable (*knock on wood*).
i say do it. u will not find a better handling OR better looking car in the price range.

BUT, if your thing is "going fast in a sraight line"......dont get it.
a good buddy of mine has an SRT-4 and it will blow the doors of any MSP.........its pure sEkz when that car reaches full boost.

Sporty N/A cars are like playing with firecrackers. Fun Turbo cars are like m80's alot more fun but whole lot more dangerous and stupid people shouldn't even be around them. Buying one from a forum member isn't a bad idea. At least you can check their posts and get an idea of what kind of abuse the car has been thru.

I hear you otmsp :D

yay-boost - I probably would have no issue if the car was new. But since it isn't that's what's really bugging me. Can you ever trust any USED FI car? (mspblack) (burnout) (nervous)

Get it. At stock boost its a reliable car. The Protege was a very good car and when the MSP is run at the boost it was engineered for; its reliable. Mazda makes excellent cars, IMHO the most underrated Japanese auto company.

The handling is absolutely sick and its a good looking car with 4 doors. I love the look. I also have an EVO MR and yet I still love to drive the MSP. That says a lot. :)

wow, this is great info... I guess I'd like to check if anything has been done to this car. If it has been kept stock, I am sure that after 35K miles something should have happened (maybe??) already. My issue is not knowing who drove it or how it was treated. I would rather buy a car off you guys in the forums because you wouldn't be on this if you didn't enjoy and take care of your cars. Know what I mean.

I guess I need to do some heavy thinking this weekend.

Mine is for sale, we could even arrange a delivery point half way.

Hi everyone. I have been really looking at the Mazdaspeed Portege as my next car. To do this though, I would be trading in my 2004 Focus. So needless to say, I will be signicantly backwards on the financal side.

Don't be a fool, just pay off the Focus then look for another car.

zoom-zoom03 I would love to get your car. I'd feel much better about it that i could ask you questions but the biggest issue is that I can't sell my car. I am too backwards with it to make out right. That's the main reason I had to search high and low for one at a dealer. Specifically a Ford Dealer so they would give me more for my trade in.... sorry. You car looks sweet though. (2thumbs)

Heck, if I get this car, I might even hit you up for some of those mods before you sell it ;)

Cool bro, good luck with the car.

ill go with MSP...srt4 i was told dont cost anything for resale..so your stuck with it...that came from srt-4 guy...

MSP's a great car, but it's a financial decision too - if you're going to be so upside-down on the Focus that you're essentially paying like $20k for a used MSP, then you're paying a LOT of money for the car (either losing a lot on the Focus or paying too much for the MSP).

In the end, what's a little incremental driving enjoyment compared to the$$ you'll spend, and what else could you do with that money?

At 40++ years old, if there was ONE thing I could way to someone who is in their early 20's, it's this: Remember, you're the SAME PERSON at 40++ as you were at 20. If you want to give your 40++ year old self a great gift, give them (your future "you") some dough. I've heard enough "spend it now, while you can enjoy it" crap to last a lifetime. You can enjoy it (and may indeed NEED it) when you're 43, or 53, or 64.

I'm off my soapbox now. Your choice, and either one's a good one - you (and only you) have to choose between them, and you-and-only-you live with the result. The MSP is a fine car, never driven it's equal in the OE handling department and I've driven a bunch.

Either way you go, good luck - seriously.

(this brought to you by the Department of Reality, you may now rejoin your regularly scheduled fantasies!)

:D:D:D:D:D

ping - that was excellent info. I am not as old as you are but I'm definitely not a kid anymore and my craving to buy things never ends (actually gets worse)

As for this car, it initally started in the 20K finance area but after lots of back and forth it has gone down quite significantly. I would be around 17.5K area after a loss on my car but having them lower there asking price too. But that is part of the reason I am worried about it. Never seen a dealer lower there pricing so fast to make a sale. Almost where they are trying hard to get it off their lot. Doesn't give me an easy feeling. Just don't know.

Thank everyone for the great input.
