Gen 4 Mazda3 front strut stuck in knuckle even with spreader tool

I’m working on a 2019+ Mazda3 front strut and I’m stuck getting the strut tube out of the steering knuckle. I bought a knuckle spreader and set it right in the slot where the clamp opens. It does spread a little, but not enough for the strut to slide up and out. I’ve been rocking the strut left and right and pushing up while the spreader is installed and it will move a millimeter at a time, then bind again. ABS wire and brake hose brackets are off and the pinch area is soaked with penetrant. Photos attached show the spreader sitting in the slot. If anyone has tips specific to the Gen 4 knuckle fitment or tool orientation that works better, please let me know. I’m trying to avoid beating on it or stressing the axle boot.
