Gear set for drag racing...

The gears we have been testing have so far taken al the abuse in my Mazda 3. The car is now making 560 WHP at 28 psi of boost and 8500 RPMs.

This gears can be ordered in any ratio that you want and can be straight cut or heli cut.

I am thinking in making a tall ratio for 1st gear and then close ratio all the way to 5th gear.

The gears you broke, were they stock 3rd gears or the GTX 3rd gears?

I too have become tired of breaking the 3rd and 4th gears in our race car. I have undertaken development of new gears. Should be ready in the next month. I will only have straight cut since I won't hear the sound in the race car (straight cut make a gear whine) and are definitely stronger than a helical design.

Those who would be interested let me know....

Subbing. I'd like some more info on these. Any idea on price for the set?

Manuel has been telling me about these. Didn't know they were already being tested though.... 8500 RPM; is the car still making power up there? I want to be able to rev high on my car reliably when it's done. Does Manuel know the specs so I can bug him about it.

The Engine in the Mazda 3 is a more reving engine. Yes I am still making power up there, otherwise I would not take all the way to 8500. I do not think that the FS engine can rev that high unless running different cams and stiffer springs.

The gears are being tested, the thing is that the factory is in South America and they are now in the top of racing season and I have to wait a little to get them. Straight cut will be too loud for a street car.

ya i would think valve float would be a problem at 8500rpm with stock valvetrain and you guys are right the cams definately run out of steam at 6500rpm. Have you guys ever thought of changing the final drive instead of the gear ratio?

any idea what it would costto have the bottom end balanced with the clutch and flywheel on it? You guys having problems with the stock bearings wearing out when you go to the track?

Yeah they have something. I spoke with Juans brother and they have something for sure. But yeah I want to know too, how does the Mazda3 compare to the Protege trany?

I just broke my third gear a few days ago. I'm definately up for some new better gears. Might take a little for me to round up the money but i'm definately in the market. Straightcut ftw hahahhaa

Can you still drive the car though? I'm assuming third gear just wont go in at all?

I can still drive the car. 3rd gear will go in, it just makes a horrible horrible noise, a whining noise, and a very loud clunk that goes with the speed of the car in 3rd gear.

I have wondered this exact same thing. I'd love a slightly taller final drive, say, about 3.55-3.73. Are there any ring/pinion swaps out there?

SIgn me up.

I'd be very interested keep posted please!
Thanks
Dave

Nah I think it's just the sway bar clunk! :) Kidding, atleast you can still drive it. Skip the gear for as long as you can hold out for new parts. That's what I woudl do.

Actually its sounds as its a bearing in the tranny. From loss of oil or low oil. Atleast the whining is. My 3rd gear and 4th gear whine due to this. Im on my third broken 3rd gear. Synchros/shiftforks and such. Seems even after I fix it, it breaks even easier the next.
