Its been a while since this was tried and, well, I want to try it :)

I'm putting the bug in everyone's ear out there to see if this is even worth it. Belt driven supercharger system for the Protege that would include the blower, new intake manifold, pulley, fuel regulator and assorted bits and pieces. price would be between 2500 and 3000 dollars.

let me know what you think (group)

I think it would have to allow the A/C to be retained, or half the country wouldn't even consider it. I know that immediately ruled out the WOMP idea for me.

Supercharger = good.
No AC in August = not going to happen.

I don't need to tell you that the less $$ you can sell it for, the more sales you're going to have.

it would be cool to see a good kit hit the market... won't do me any good (any longer), but I'd be interested to see it nonetheless

You definitely have me interested... although I'm not sure if I could really justify ditching all my turbo junk for a S/C.

I dunno...I honestly couldn't care less about my A/C. I never run it unless
someone is in my car complaining. When it's hot, I just open the windows and drive faster :)

Ken, I would love to see it happen.

i am really interested, i found one p5 that was supercharged online, didnt have any specs or anything tho, and if the ac goes, oh well, if it stays great
i use these things called windows anyways haha

I would love to see something that would retain a/c. I know that cruise control tends to get in the way too but that is a lot easier to relocate.

Very, very interested. I would like to know what time of 'charger you are thinking of - centrifugal, roots and also what max psi you think you will be able to run. I know that it is early days but a bit of guide now will probably spark a bit more interest.

Better start saving for a deposit .....(cool)

i would love to have a supercharger for mine. i don't want to turbo because of all of the issues that i would have to deal with. i would super charge if the kit was bolt on.

I like the idea of a supercharger but it would have to retain the ac for me to even consider.(not that I can get oen right now anyways but I would much rather have the SC over Turbo)

The thing is, a supercharger would be sweet but, the ac is a serious issue. I just moved to ohio from new orleans. You can not live in a place that humid with no ac. Even if you put down the windows its like hot air blowing in your face. I have to get my ac recharged when my car was only 2 years old because you are using it so much year round.

Something like this:

mmmm roots type that would be nice, if only it were big enough to wine like a kenne bell on a mustang

Focus, is that what they call a roots-type positive displacement blower? Also, on that particular one there is no a/c.

Other than that, it looks pretty cool. I would think that because this is FI, that forged rods/pistons would be needed. Ken, does the target price you gave above included include forged internals?

Cheers.

The AC bracket is in the photo on the right. I imgine its still sittign in the engine bay waiting for the engien to be installed.

No the price doesn't even touch engine internals its just the SC kit and whatever else is needed to get it to run.
