Does anyone know a good place to get gauges installed in calgary? What shops are reliable and have good service and expertise?

thanx

I am planning on getting Boost/Vac, A/F, EGT..... going to put them on an A pillar. Where is Ogden?

You can install that s*** yourself man, it'll take you like 6 hours at the very most.

Gauges are too man. EGT just runs a wire from the gauge to your bung for the probe, the A/F gets tapped into the stock sensor, and the boost gauge just runs a vacuum lne to your manifold.

Thanks for the info, i will give them a call. Do you know how much they would possably charge for this type of install?

I take my my girlfriend's car there for maintenance. They have always been upfront and honest with me. They will only do the work that is needed and will tell you if it is not needed.

Maxx Mazda knows how to do this, perhaps he could help (just check his car, the best looking P5 in Calgary).

I would really appreciate that. So you've done the boost, A/F, and EGT before?

Did Mechanical Boost and EGT on a Tahoe at work. (Helped put a magnacharger on it) wasn't hard at all. EGT will require some welding though, but only wnough that a good welding shop should only charge you like $10 and 45 seconds worth of labor.

Is mechanical boost more accurate than electronic? I am waiting for an exhaust sytem which maye take another few months, it requires the extebnsion of the stock O2 sensor so i guess the EGT will have to be redone again when i get eh exhaust.

I have heard that it is more accurate to have the EGT sensor before the downpipe in the exhaust manifold or somthing, but it is more dangerous. SI this true?

thanx for your help.

For Boost, I've heard that they're both about the same, but I've only got experience with Mechanical boost gauges. All have been autometer (that's all we use at work.) You'll want a wideband O2 sensor to get any use out of your A/F gauge, otherwise it just blinks back and forth and doesn't tell you anything. AEM makes a wideband, so then you can get a bung put into your new exhaust before you install it.

As for the EGT, on the supercharged trucks I've helped on, it goes right into the header around the collector area, but on turbo vehicles it's up to you really. It's not at all dangerous to have it anywhere in the exhaust system, but you have to figure out what EGT you want to read. Coming out of the engine, coming out of the turbo, you could even put it in your muffler tip if you felt like it... It's really up to you. Personally, I'd do it right after the turbo, where the exhaust is going to be hottest, allowing you to read the maximum exhaust temp that will be going through your system. Hope that helped!
