funky white/blue headlights - best bang for the buck?

I have done a little research, but I want to hear it right from the horse's mouth (so to speak...) -- the subject line more or less says it all. I'd like to get those uber-white lights installed as a replacement for my stock ones, perhaps even to replace the fog lamps as well. I'm sure you've seen them, mostly on BMW's and the like. I saw a Pro5 today with them on and it KICKED SERIOUS ASSPHALT!

What sort of costs am I looking at? How easy would it be to buy the kit myself and install it? Also, would it be better to get both sets of lights the same colour, or should I make the fog lamps yellow, much like REAL fog lamps?

Thanks for your combined information in advance!

are you talking about just replacing the bulbs or replacing the entire unit...real HID kits are usually in the thousands of dollars(american)...so bulbs are the cheap alternative for us poor people...

Well, if I had thousands of dollars to spare I'd buy a turbocharger or something!! ~LOL~ Seriously tho, I was thinking about just the bulbs... Certainly nothing that's going to cost me huge dollars. Perhaps below the $100-150 range?

well...lucky for you that bulbs really don't go that high...i would recommend the piaa plasma blues they are really bright...probably the closest i've seen to HID for regular bulbs...they run about $80/pair...otherwise piaa super whites...they are about $50/pair both are good but the super whites aren't as bright but last a little while longer

Great, I was wondering about PIAA... I've seen enough about them to kind of figure out that they are amongst the top brands out there.

Now to my other questions... how difficult would it be to change out the bulbs on my 2002 Pro5? It would also help if someone knows how to change the bulbs on the fog lamps too!

There is a how to on the foglamps. Headlight are a easy 5 minute job.

No that won't work. You need H3 bulbs for fogs, H7 for low beams, and 9005 for high beams.

That'll work. Those aren't as good as the PIAA's. But I've always used the cheap ones like that. They just aren't as good.

aren't as good how? Because they're 1/5 of the price? What sort of specs/ratings/whatever should someone be looking at for this kind of thing? I'm only a three-week old new Pro5 owner! :)

They don't last as long. I like them just fine. Just have to replace them more. I've only had problems with the really cheap $6.95 sets. The others have lasted me a decent amout of time.

9005's altho I wouldnt worry about the brights personally

Depends on where you live. If you live out in the middle of BFE like me then you want better brights. I use my highs more than my lows on average.

as for longer lasting... they say they come w/ a 10 year warranty.... doesnt that mean if they crap out in 10 years i can send them back?

WTF kinda crack you smoking????? thousands??? it's more hundreds. i bought my HID conversion kit for 420 USD! so if you didn't know before. now you know. lol

Either way, I'm not willing to spend hundreds of dollars for something that simply gives me brighter/cooler lights and +0 horsepower. $10-50 Bulbs it is.

thats your opinion. some people want their car to look good. they to spend $3k+ on make you car fast. they think that is stupid. each to his own. but don't sit there and knock some one on what they like. I personally like the HID lights on the BMW's and Benz's. So i got them. you want to spend money on getting an exhuast or getting cams to make have more power. that your right.
