Fuel cut after flash was done

I got a friend with an 03.5 Mazdaspeed and he took it to the dealer to get it flashed. The hesitation problem was fixed and the car pulled harder. After that he decided to put a boost controller in it and the car cuts the fuel like crazy in any gear after at 8psi or more. One of the ways to fix this problem was to buy the FCD chip but then somebody told me that if the car is flashed then it can't take the FCD chip or there will be danger of blowing up the engine. Is this true or just bulls***?

where are you and how cold is it? the FCD has been on about 90% of blown MSPs, it leans out the fuel in the higher rpms...

Please ignore that unless your friend wants to blow his motor. On a bone stock car I would only run stock boost. If your friend has supporting mods (fmic, free flowing exhaust, and intake) then 8-10 psi with an fcd would probably be ok, but there is still a risk of blowing it up. He really needs some sort of engine management before he starts messin with the boost.

It's bulls***! You should definitely be able to boost to 15psi with only the flash.

Did it happen to you? and 15psi on a stock engine is a little extreme.

Sarcasm guys.

Isn't there many posts on this topic?

Hell, I get the cut at stock boost sometimes.

Orlando. When it gets really hot and the car has been run a few times it ceases to cut fuel.

Seriously, all you have to remember is that stupidity = danger of blowing engine. Be smart about the amount you boost, where and when you boost and the supporting mods you have.

Stay away from FCD unless you really know what your doing and can afford to rebuild. Don't use it without a wideband O2 sensor to monitor A/F ratios or you will probably be sorry.

My car is flashed and I started having fuel-cut at about 9 PSI once the temp here in ATL dropped below 50 degrees. That was with JoeP's MBC, now using unichip and included EBC (for now). No more fuel cut and it was like 24 degrees the other night.

If the car is stock, you should probably just stick with stock boost. If you want things done right, it's gonna cost ya. Do it right the first time, even if it takes forever, you'll be alot happier with the results.

Good Luck

its -28 outside, i just boosted through 2 and 3rd with no fuel cut. other times i hit it when its not even cold out, its a pain but its not worth blowing the motor.
