Fs-ze Ecu

the FS-ZE ECU is OBD1 - and only you know what your car is in the phillipines. the FS-DE in the US is OBD2. so, an FS-ZE ECU will not work on a US spec car unless you do a TON of wiring. if your car is OBD2, then you can probably expect the same.
 
Better to specify, and direct this question at the Aussie guys, Ross... yes, the RP is OBDI... but we're running direct ignition.
 
What do you mean, niky? According to the Protege FAQ, the FS-ZE uses distributorless ignition like the FS-DE and the rest of the 3rd gen engines.
 
^Were you still able to get all the hp out of the engine without the ECU to take advantage of the HC pistons and the different cams/intake manifold? If so, did you use a standalone?

The stock 1.8L ECU runs the engine _ it dynoed 126WHP and around 130TRQ a few years back with and RB Catback, AWR Header, HKS intake. Definitely not the full benefit, but it still feels worlds different from my P5.
 
Definitely not... sounds like the motor itself only gave you about 140-150 bhp, without the ECU.
 
Seems like a standalone is a better investment then the FS-ZE. I've seen results with mostly stock FS-DE's put down 130hp after a pro dynotune.
 
I'm reasonably sure I've got at least 125-135 whp on the dynojet with my current build... all IHE plus Unichip.

I put down over 123 whp before, with a milder build with Thunders.

if you really had the money, an FS-ZE tuned with a standalone would be the way to go
 
Obviously :) that would be schweet...

I'd love to have a FS-ZE but my crappy F series trans sucks with only 122hp and it sucks to change EVERYTHING for a G series swap I might aswell go KL-ZE mmm
