FS-DE engine build

Hi I just bought a 2002 mazda protege5 and was wondering about the motor Ive read that it can be push N/A up to 190hp. I'm building the car for more of a circuit car and its gonna be my daily driver do you guys think this is possible? If so how do I go about it the engine has 118k miles on itatm.

Hey I see ure in NY....I've never personally heard anyone pushing that much NA power to the wheels on the protege. Anything can be done with enough money I suppose. You would have to look into high compression Pistons, cams, port and polished heads, a standalone, exhaust, cold air intake, headers,injectors and the list goes on....making the protege reliable would be another topic for u also.
Another alternative ( and slightly cheaper) would be turbo....but that's not what you asked
 
The highest rated NA FS-DE I know of was Installshields old build. I believe he was just over 190hp but like stated before it was custom everything and he did a lot of research to get that done. Not to mention he is a mechanical engineer.
 
Yeah, I've talked to him about it before. He definitely knows his stuff, kind of wish I was part of the forums when he built his last P5 and was more active on the forums.
 
190 at the flywheel is possible, but expensive.
