FREE MPI help!

Used, new, the principle is the same man. Sounds like either you dont have a 1.1k resistor going to ground from your maf circuit or your fuel cal is not set.

Did you have a green wire on your turbo module?

Edit: its been an early morning. Thanks Tim.

1.1k dude. You can get that by using two 2.2k resistors in parallel.(thumb)

can the mpi get over ride the speed governor? i have heard that it can from some and that it can't for others. but if it can how do you go about doing it? also how much can i push the engine if i just got froged rods without the pistons?

It cannnot with the normal configuration. If it can, MPNick can tell you for sure how to do it and what you would need to do.

Hiboost has done good think with modified stock pistons, so with forged rods and those you are good for some BIG power. As for plan ol stock pistons.......dunno.

Ok I got an MPI tunner and i install the software on my computer, but it wants me to insert the security lock disk into drive A... I dont have a floppy drive in my laptop or the floppy disk it's asking me for.
The only thing i have is a file on a cd that's called 'Security Key.SPD'
So what can i do to get this to work on my computer?

Copy the .SPD file from the CD you got and put it in the MPI_TUNER directory, then it will have the key when you launch the SW.

Hey if I install the MPI onto my car as is now (no turbo), will it run the stock map from the ECU or do I have to tune the MPI for the stock car?

With no turbo the car will run pig rich. Wait till the turbo goes in, or get an n/a turbo module from Nick (dont see why you wanna do that if you gettin the BOOST :) )

I just wanted to get it done now while I have nothing else to do, and that way when it's time for the big install, I have oneless thing to hook up. Also if I get it in now and it works, when I get the turbo in and something doesnt work I know it's not a problem with the MPI wiring.
Maybe also use it as a diagnostic tool for now.

The way I did it was like this:

1. install turbo kit and check for leaks.
2. drive OUT OF BOOST!!!!@#@!!! for a day, make sure you have a boost guage in. Listen for noises.
3. Hook up mpi and start to tune.
4. Profit

Worked out well for me. You can wire it up, but remember the car will be rich and may not be drivable because of the bogging.

Make sure your gas is 93 oct or 91 before you throw kit on. I had a 1/4 tank of 87 when I installed mine (eek), nothing a bit of seafoam couldnt fix :)

Does anyone have a how-to on installing the MPI?
Do I need extra injectors to run the MPI?

Here are the instructions.

PM me your number. I can kind of help over the phone. (I have some exams coming up, so I might not be able to help out really well until next thurs)

How many psi are you planning on running? More than 6-7 get the extra injectors. They also make tuning rediculously easy.

I'm running 5.8psi, I have finals next week too, and I leave for Puerto Rico as soon as I'm done so I wont have time to do it now. I'll get back to you with my number after the Xmas break.

Regarding the instructions: I'm not familiar with the wiring of the car or with the numbers you use to identify the wires.
Are there no pictures to help understand the instructions?

There are pics in that how to. You might have some wires missing from that install. Just carry on. The wire harness has numbers on the connector.

Numbers???
where? cause i dont see any nmbers...

If you look at the big harness on your ECU, there are numbers on the ends, you have to count towards the other end to find the correct pins. And the MPI harness, just use the colors. Those instructions I made during an install, so the color's are accurate. I'll help ya out too, and xtra injectors or definalty much easier to tune and the way to go.

You can get away with the low boost without them and you should bog too bad.....like yours did Moeed....I think you had an older setup right?

The key it to make sur eyour car RUNS RIGHT with no codes and no other issues. Then install the MPI and TAKE YOUR TIME and check everything over and over and make sure the connections are solid. Then the rest isn't that bad. You just have to get the hang of how the SW works.
