buying performance parts just because they look cool and it will help inflate your imagined penis size is pretty gay, but thats just my opinion.

Save your money and buy an evo

the long and short of everything is I LOVE MP3's/MSPs. My car does have a few setbacks that I dont like and so I want to upgrade to a MSP. That is what I wish to do. However, i like most people here would like to have more done to the car then it has stock. i am just trying to figure out what it is i should do first. i am very new to the idea of turbo. even if i just got the built motor im not trying to go as fast as i possible can. i wouldn't boost it to 16/17. there are certain things i want and thats it. just like you want things, i want things too. if i sound like im 5 its only cuz i am very dumb when it comes to turbo aspects, please help me become more educated. if you think i am just trying to boost my ego, whatever. its my car. i just want it nicer than a stock msp. i park next to a msp everyday at work (citizenpro) and this fall i will park next to 2 EVERYDAY at school (siberiankiss and msp102). I have ALWAYS felt the need to be different than the next person. as an mp3 i was different but now ill be msp. NO I WILL NOT KEEP THE MP3. i have the ablility to have a newer more reliable car (my mp3 is quickly approaching 100k miles) with the ability to do some modifications that i really want to it. i am NOT TRYING TO MAKE MY CAR GO AS FAST AS IT CAN POSSIBLY GO. Yes i would love to have 300wHP. but i am not trying to do that right now. thats not my goal. I would never buy an evo or an sti or anythign like that. regardless of what anyone else thinks, i love the proteges.

100 K miles, huh?

If you trade it in, it isn't worth anything anyway.
If you buy a MSP, you will de-value it with any upgrades.

You don't think that you will be able to go faster in an upgraded MSP versus a turbo MP3 or P5 do you? You will need to do just as many mods.

I am not really sure what you want. The MSP is not a magic car. If I were to go fast and REALLY mod, I would rather start out with an MP3 or P5.

Here are your options, the first 2 are smart -

1. Keep the MP3 and get a sleeper kit, saving for a built engine and junkyard low mileage tranny (and engine management and LSD - which I really recommend).

2. Get the MSP and buy upgrades to it (you can get a manifold, downpipe, etc. from MAM).

3. Get the MSP and get a built engine and thumper (you would get the same performance in an MP3 if you did the same, just wasting money on the MSP, itself, if you do this).

the mp3 is just not an option. it would cost me more to get to msp standards with the mp3 than the difference of selling the mp3 and buying an msp. and im NOT just talking about getting a turbo with the mp3. there are other things that need to be fixed. trust me, i a have a 3.8 GPA on the deans list at 2 colleges (business and architecture), and will graduate in the top 5-10 people of my class. I have spent sleepless nights calculating "is it worth it." i've always told people to turbo an mp3 rather than buying a msp too. but if i wasn't buying an msp, i would be buying another car. i am selling the mp3 either way. i want a newer car right now, and id rather buy a msp than a scion or anything else for that matter.

wow! this is crazy! i'd say go with a built motor and up the boost on your stock turbo. Thats my opinion :+) power over looks IMO

Yeah..keep the stock setup and slowly upgrade. You'll do much better that way and save a whole bunch of cash.

Who knows, but buying a $4500 turbo kit to run at 200whp is retarded when you could just get forged interals and an fmic and be making a lot more power than that.

yeah this is old news for me. so i decided against the thumper for now. i was planning on going forged but ran short on funds and spent the money on a lot of smaller things.....turbo timer, boost controller, cf hood, gauges, motor mount, new stereo.........and whatever else i cant remember right now.
