Forge bpv

ok i posted this once already but i think i posted it in the wrong spot. The other day i got my forge bpv and im wondering how does the spacers/shims go in. Right now im using blue but i still get flutter at low rpms in 5th and 6th gear. Shifting seems smothers but the car seems slower if that makes since at all.

Thanks Mid Life (kiss)

The shims go down at the bottom of the spring towards the base where it bolts onto the cold pipe, not the top where the little rubber hose connects into.

I only figured this out a few months ago. I didn't ask anyone when I installed mine, just threw the shim in at the top and ran it like that for months (bang)

I`m not sure why you`re beating me with a chair. For the Forge BPV, the simplest, hardest to screw it up description is what I said. Put the shims inside the piston. If that isn`t perfectly clear, put the shims inside the piston first then put the spring in the piston then screw the base on.

just out of curiosity, how did the car run? i woulda thought it would buck & snort like a wild bronco...

I believe he wanted to know if the shims went on the top (like unicef did) or if they went at the base. I thought you were being funny by just saying they went inside the piston.

I changed the banging head with chair for ya! :D

Yes circle you were right i should have asked it a little better i wanted to know if it went at the top or the bottom of the spring. Thanks for the help everyone. Also i was wondering is it bad if i dont get any flutter in 6th gear at low rpms? I use to get flutter at low rpms in 5th and 6th gear. Then with one shim the the flutter in 5th went away but still in 6th gear. So i put the other one in and no more flutter.

help ive had this bpv for only a few weeks and now all shims/spring combo flutter at any rpms! It even thru a CEL! i havent had the chance to check and see what the CEL is yet tho as soon as i do ill post it. I did notice that the little silver piston i guess its called comes right out with little effort when taking out the spring. Is that normal? I put the stocker back on and now its back to normal but the CEL is still there thank goodness so i can still check it on Monday. Has anyone else run into this issue? How can i check and see if the bpv is leaking boost?

take the negative off the battery for a few mins then put it back on. this resets the ecu. if the cel comes back on with your stocker... then its prolly not your bpv

ok thanks for the fast replies yes i did tighten everything and it was all good. I took the car out for a drive after i reset it. The CEL was gone and didnt come back with the stock bpv. Now i did this already a few times before with the forge one and it came back almost right away. Anytime i hit boost it would flutter or what felt like flutter to me anyway. Now with the stock one on i did flutter a little when i first put it back on but corrected almost right away.

just drive it like that for a couple days. my cel came back on day two or three i dont remember. but mine isnt the same problem. good luck with everything. and if you ever decide to get rid of the forge.... (lol2)

Oh i should almost tell you that the first time it came on was right after i took the red spring out and went back to the blue one with two shims. I did this b/c i thought i felt a surge at high rpms *note i dont know what a surge feels like*. But after i changed it nothing would work anymore.
