foot getting stuck

Upon test driving the car I immediately noticed that when the gas is pressed down and I have to brake, my foot is hitting the underside of the brake peda on the way up.
When I have to go from brake to gas, my foot was hitting the side of brake when going to accellerator.

I have this same issue too.... foot hitting the underside of the brake pedal on the way up and hitting the side of the break when hitting the accelerator... this problem only comes up when I use boots or wider shoes... i can compensate if i concentrate but I guess it's something I have to get used to... I drive an auto and have a 10.5 shoe size...

I wonder if changing the wide brake pedal to the smaller brake pedal they use in the manual would help???

I've had two space problems in ours. First is what lots of other folks are complaining about - very close spacing between brake and accelerator. When I test drove it, I nearly launched the sales rep in a turn when I went to hit the gas quickly and instead ended up mashing the brake. Very annoying, but I have since retrained myself to have my heel in line with the accelerator instead of with the brake.

Second problem was caused by the dash cover. My work boots' tops (stiff leather) catch on the bottom of the dash opening, making it hard to let the clutch out. Solution there is to never wear those boots in the 5 again.

Really dumb pedal design, if you ask me. Did their engineers all grow up with bound feet? Or is this supposed to make it easier for people to heel/toe when doing the whole Zoom Zoom thing?

I don't know. I guess it's all preference. I think the Pedal spacing (size 11) is fantastic! all the pedals are nice and close together. makes heel-toe work much easier and more precise!!

Of course I'm either wearing hikers or proper dress/casual shoes. Though I could see where work boots would be a prob!

Not sure what I'm hitting but once in awhile I do snag on something down there. This has never happened to me in any other vehicle. I wear a size 10 wide.(confused)

For those that haven't looked at the pedal configuration, I've attached a few photos. I've found my foot has a difficult time fitting between the IP trim and the brake pedal arm, not the actual pedal. I've changed my foot position, so it's more of my toes doing the depressing of the pedals, not the ball of my foot.

Not sure if this will lead to premature wear through of the all-weather rubber mats . . .
