Has anyone replaced their halogen fog light bulbs(H11) with new led's and or HID's? Just purchased a set of 6000k HID's and the bulbs are to long. :( .. I am looking for something with a white light to match my Xeon driving lights.. Photos and manufacture would be great to see. Thank you

i have, you will have to bend the inside reflectors off to the side or remove them completely with needle nose pliers for it to fit

Does that change the light pattern?

What is the advantage?

That is what the manufacture told me. What does it look like??

North American Mazda foglight housings have a bulb cap to comply with regulations to reduce glare. In reality, it does nearly nothing. Like covers said, used needle nose pliers to crimp the metal cap, bend the mounting tab, and yoink it out. This needs to be done for any HID kit.

Here is a little tip for those who don't want to go HID's, but want more usable light output from the fogs. It is a necessity, because the factory H11 fogs are practically useless in terms of producing usable light in any situation. The bulb sizing for the foglight is H11, which creates 1350 lumens. An H9 can produce 2100 lumens, and the female connector can be modified to fit an H11 housing. For those that are afraid of frying something, there will be no need to change any wiring or relays either. There is a small tab on the H9 that needs to be chiseled out. Purchase an H9 bulb, compare it to an H11, and it should be obvious how to approach the modification process.

I looked at using pliers to bend the metal apart, looks like it may be tough to bend, but I guess it just looks stronger than it is.

Bending and breaking off the mounting tab is easy. Crimping it down to size to come out will take some strength.

thats correct, bending it and breaking it off will be easy just crimping the cap so it can fit through the hole when you pull it out will be a bit of pain. also in order to get a good grip on pulling it out i believe you will need to remove the bumper, corrrect me if im wrong.

btw i didnt use pliers to bend the caps i just stuck my finger in there and pushed all the way to the side. if you push it directly down the bulb wont fit as the housing is shallower near the bottom. to completely push it out of the way you gotta push it DOWN and to the SIDE.
